The CyberKnife System
¡ The FDA approved CyberKnife treatment of tumors in the head, neck and upper spine in 1999 and tumors anywhere in the body in 2001.
¡ More than 200,000 patients have been treated with CyberKnife worldwide.
¡ Austin CyberKnife has been treating patients at University Medical Center Brackenridge since 2005.

Treatment
¡ CyberKnife treats patients through stereotactic radiosurgery, a nonsurgical process that attacks tumors with a high-dose, highly accurate radiation beam.
¡ The pinpoint accuracy minimizes damage to healthy tissue and can reach hard-to-reach tumors.
¡ Treatment is done in five or fewer outpatient sessions and does not require any incision or anesthesia.
