We hope that you are a little more informed about helping your children with writing. Participants also learned about NAPLAN and how writing is marked for these assessments in years 3, 5 7, and 9. On the topic of NAPLAN, preliminary results have just arrived. Students in years 3 and 5 who completed this assessment earlier in the year will have their results sent home soon. If any parents have enquiries regarding NAPLAN please contact the school or if you would like further information about your child’s results. 2018 NAPLAN Results NAPLAN Assessments were conducted early in Term 2 this year. Most students have made considerable progress since these assessments and they may no longer accurately reflect your child’s performance in all areas due to the time period between now and when these assessments were completed. Overall, students performed close to the levels where teachers believe they have been working at. A few children gained results that were a little disappointing. A larger number gained results that were a little higher than expected, which of course is very pleasing. Looking at average school data, we are extremely pleased to announce that students in year 3 performed well above National Average in Reading and Writing. We were also above the average in Spelling and Maths. Students in year 5 were above the National Average in Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation. We were well above the average in Maths. Just imagine how much higher we could be if 100% of students consistently completed their homework and returned it every week. Assembly Awards Aussie of the Month for August: Piper Aussie of the Month for September: Abigail Other special awards went to: Anders Shaylah Matisse Lucas Robbie Phoenix Ruby Emily W Nevaeh Piper Liam Amelia Kinder Enrolments for 2019 There are still a few Kinder 2019 enrolment forms that have not yet been returned to school. Please note that these, along with birth Certificate, are required before the children can attend for the Kinder Transition Days next term (25th October and continuing for five weeks each Thursday). Students will generally experience a full day of school each week. Holiday Chook Feeders Wanted Thank you to those who have already volunteered to feed the chickens during the holiday period. A few more would be helpful, please let us know if you can drop in just one day in the holidays. Please remember to collect the eggs too. AND THERE ARE STILL ROOSTERS TO GIVE AWAY!! Off to High School Our year 6 students have a high school transition day on Thursday 20th September. All students received information about this. They may travel in and out on the high school bus or parents may take them in.
