groups, each of which had to do tasks in any order. The race - living up to its promise of making you as macho as Judo Ged - included a basketball shootout, monkey bars, wolf whistle with polvoron in your mouth, find the coin in the flour, Chinese garter, three-legged race, make a Colgate pyramid, find the Roaming Ronna, jigsaw puzzle, name the capitals of Iran, Liberia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, South Africa and the country with no capital, sack race (no official game names were given). Tasks were halted as the rain poured and games continued in-tent. Lunch and a well-deserved rest was served after. The fun day was then rounded up by a very educational tour of the Quezon Museum. The second KIDS day out was truly a success as everyone learned the value of competitiveness, determination and sportsmanship and developed both mental and physical abilities. Not only was The Amazing Kids Race a blast, but it was also a perfect event for one holistic experience.

We remember every semester according to its BIGGEST happenings that bring us that rush of memory and nostalgia! This semester will forever be marked as the time of the Most Meaningful Event ever to rock the student-run marketing scene. This year’s Major Marketing Event was beyond major as it was the first ever student-run advocacy and marketing project, promoting our country’s wellness and health tourism. On the 13th of September, the UP Junior Marketing Association Team Major Marketing Event, in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Azta Urban Salon, and Havaianas, held the competition finals for TOURbo Marketing: Boost Tourism to the Next Level at the PICC Complex. Six teams of college students presented their marketing campaigns. In the end, Team PACE from AIT, composed of Carla Villarama, Almira Manduriao, Yvonne Palaganas, Regyn Avena and Paola Valescona, won the cash prize of P20,000!They also featured a Seminar on New Marketing Trends and Techniques with speakers such as Mr. Willy Arcilla, the president of Business Mentors, Inc., Ms. Marie Pascual, the VP for Marketing Communications of Shoemart Inc.’s Department Store and Affiliates Group and Ms. Cathy Turvill, the Vice President of the Spas Association of the Philippines. This magnificently momentous event was made all the more magnificent by the food catered by Via Mare and the snacks from The French Baker. In addition, the magnanimously memorable event was free for the marvelous members of UPJMA.This year’s MME did not simply teach marketing techniques; as a project, it marketed a sense of nationalism to its participants, inspiring their fresh ideas to improve our country’s tourism. Only a team like UPJMA’s MME can use capitalist marketing as a tool in creating a positive impact on society. Brilliant Filipino minds working in the service of the Filipino! How much more major can it get?

*For such a superb event, we would like to congratulate the mighty fine UPJMA Team Major Marketing Event for a job well-done! A big, warm “THANK YOU” to our Platinum sponsors: DOT, Azta Urban Salon, Havaianas, Wrangler, our Media sponsors: Studio 23, Jobstreet, The Radio Partners, Inc., ClickTheCity.com, and of course, our Silver sponsors: The Medical City, Manila Hotel, The French Baker. Also, special thanks to M&G, Splash Corp., Goodwill Bookstore, Mundial Marketing Inc. and PDM Press, Manila Ocean Park for your most-appreciated support! If this year’s Major Marketing Event was as superb, brace yourself for next year’s MME!!!

All proceeds of this event will be aimed at providing financial and moral support for our beneficiaries, the K.I.D.S. (KIDS INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SCHOOLING) Program and the UP JMA SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

UP JMA and Asting-o-Sol guarantees you confidence so long-lasting, people won’t get enough of you.

Eden, as a Biblical setting, witnessed the beginning of life, and more importantly, of love. Love was simple in Eden: one man and one woman; one Adam and one Eve. With Eden gone, love has become much more complicated and much harder to find. The search to find one’s Adam or Eve seems to go on forever.

On the 3rd night of October 2008, the search will finally come to an end as the UP Junior Marketing Association (UP JMA) and Astring-o-Sol Ice Extreme bring you After Eden: The Seach Ends Here, an Astring-o-Sol Dating Marathon. After Eden puts a new twist to speed dating, as it will arouse your senses and bring out your inner charm and confidence to the extreme.

This school year, UP JMA is one of six school organizations to qualify for the “Astring-o-Sol Dating Marathon: An Inter-collegiate Event Mounting Competition.” UP JMA bested more than thirty college organizations that entered the competition by coming up with a ground-breaking event concept. As the defending champion and leading finalist, we are up against six others in the bid to win a grand prize of P150,000 from Astring-o-Sol.
