provides me a steady schedule so I can pursue my athletic dreams as well.”
Jason goes on to say, “I feel every field of academics really has its place in helping us navigate through our lives, but if there was one area I feel would be the most beneficial it would be physical education. Not just P.E. class, but learning how to eat better and exercise effectively and safely. I feel strongly about this because when we are healthy, our minds and bodies can function better due to an increased state of well being. With this comes a better ability to focus on any task at hand, be it in academics at home or in the work place.”
In his own education, Jason feels that he learned his most valuable lesson in Mr. Purdue’s 3rd grade class. “I
B r o t h e r s Jason and Kevin Bray have lived on the Waiÿanae coast for 6 years, and both attended W a i ÿ a n a e
High School. They are now a t t e n d i n g
LCCW and both plan to get their degrees in educa-tion and go back to teach at Waiÿanae High. Kevin would like to teach English, and Jason wants to teach weight lifting and health.
When asked about his desire to teach, Jason replies, “I have always wanted to teach for some reason; whenever I see the spark in someone's eye when I transfer something meaningful to them and I know they ‘got it,’ it makes me feel good. I also wanted a career that is intrinsically rewarding and
learned that the world expects you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. Harsh, maybe, but very true. I never worked hard until Mr. Perdue's class; I just skimped by being lazy and I didn't feel good about myself. Mr. Purdue taught me the value of hard work.”
Outside of school, the brothers are “pretty simple.” They enjoy sports, but only have time enough for one these days, so they practice wrestling.
“We have a small team that trains at our place. We go to BJJ (subwrestling) tournaments, and plan on fighting professional MMA in Hawaii after college. We also like playing video games and just chilling with our friends. One of my favorite places is at my friend John’s taco shop in Waiÿanae called Tacos and More.”

Jason (L) won 1st place at the Aloha State grappling championships in Febru-ary, and Kevin (R) got a medal for beat-
ing a wrestling coach there.
