What is it?

A service for pet owners to find local pet sitters, either online or from the mobile app.

Sara’s going out of town, and can’t bring Fido.

This is Janice. She is retired, has a big yard and loves dogs.

$45/night

I can!

Sara goes on vacation and relax knowing that Fido is safe!

Who can watch you while I’m

away?

BOOKED!

Here’s how a pet owner traditionally works the mobile app:

Say Sara is going on a short vacation and she needs someone she can trust to watch her pups while she’s out of town, and none of her friends are able to take care of them.

Thoughts?

Who doesn’t love photos of dogs?

The comprehensive desktop site and the amount of information about each sitter, including lots of ratings and reviews, is really great.

However, we found the mobile app to be pretty limited, lacking in helpful info and links, and if you’ve never used the app before, good luck figuring how to use the Vacaycam!

Also, how often are you going to use it?

Vision Statement

“To transform DogVacay from a single purpose application to a multi-use, social network, and an indispensable

resource for pet lovers!”

We put DogVacay’s mobile app in the hands of several dog owners to find out what they thought of it.

How can we make it even better?

[I like] the amount of information about the sitter and the credentials, because it gives a sense of security and confidence.

Lilo S. and her toy Yorkie

What I like about the app [is that] it’s user friendly, very easy to find stuff and search for a sitter.

Filly G., lives with 2 dogs

[I like] how everything is clear - the font is wonderful and appealing, there’s visuals of the caretakers...the houses and property.

Denise, who used to have a dog

It’s like Yelp for dog people. Brendan G.

(owns grumpy senior dog named Gramps)

There’s a map on the bottom, that’s pretty cool. I can favorite interesting sitters. It’s really well thought out.

Ojen S., who has a co-dependent Chihuahua)

“VacayCam..what is that?” Brendan

A frustrating issue users faced:

“What is this for?” [Tried clicking on VacayCam but it doesn’t respond.] Ojen

[Brendan tries to use the VacayCam to take a photo of Gramps]

A frustrating issue users faced:

“...It’s not clear...This is kind of confusing!”

THE PHONE FROZE!

WHERE’S THE PHOTO?

Cathy R. said: I would definitely recommend this app to friends of mine [but] I already have 3 pet sitters.

How often are pet lovers going to use it?

Another thought occurred to us during our interviews.

Who is using DogVacay? Pet ‘parents’ who want to find a caring person to watch their pups when they’re away and not leave them at a typical pet boarding facility.

These pet owners often treat their dogs like family and would also love to bring them along wherever they go. DogVacay currently only addresses one of these needs.

Our Proposal

Wouldn’t those people also prefer to use recommended vets, trainers, groomers, and more?

Our proposal would offer an indispensable resource for these pet ‘parents’.
