Congratulations to Acting Instructor and Vocal Performance Coach Jim Braswell. He received the Critics' Choice Awards for Best Male Performance and Best Play—Drama for Thomas Jefferson: My Master, My Slave, My Friend at the 2016 Fringe Festival. His performance was nothing short of incredible. For those of you who were not able to see Jim’s performance at the Fringe he is now performing at The Mad Cow Theatre in a breath taking story of manhood and family titled The Brothers Size. Now playing through July 10th. Orlando Sentinel’s Matthew Palm’s reviewed the show and said “When Jim Braswell, as Ogun, spits out, "He goes back under the car," it doesn't matter in the least that the actor is holding just an old metal washtub over his head. You see that car in your mind. And more important, you see the anger burned into Ogun's soul. Braswell makes Ogun a tightly wound mass of guilt, anger and frustration — yet he expertly shows his heart under all the negative emotions. And when he relaxes for a minute, it's a beautiful sight”. Last month Jim was in Atlanta working in the made for television film, Killing Reagan. Killing Reagan is based on the book written by Bill O'Reilly and will be released this fall on the National Geographic Channel. The book is about the attempted assassination of President Reagan. Jim plays the Anesthesiologist, Manfred Lichtman, who puts President Reagan under prior to his surgery to remove the bullet. The film also features Tim Matheson and Cynthia Nixon as Ronald and Nancy Reagan, respectively. Congrats Jim! The Maile School is very proud of you and all your success!
