Cleveand School of the Arts

On February 24, 2007, Cleveland School of the Arts celebrated 25 years of educating extraordinary children with a sold-out benefi t performance by jazz legend Ramsey Lewis and his trio. The eveningwas a glittering one, from the performance in the recently restored John HayHigh School Auditorium to the after-party at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. The most outstanding part of the night, however, was how Friends of ClevelandSchool of the Arts - a nonprofi t organization that supports the mission of the school - created an atmosphere perfectly suited to show off how the school has succeeded in so many ways over the last 25 years. CSA students were very much a part of the eff ort, from the pre-concert open house to a special performance with Ramsey Lewis. A broad range of ticket prices made the event accessible to the community - approprate for a public school that makes the arts accessible to all of Cleveland’s children. The event surpassed expected fi nancial goals, raising $400,000. Best of all, the school was able to capitalize on the event’s success and galvanize support from the arts, business and government throughout the community.
