Science
All students at Bishop David Brown School are entered for two GCSEs for Science (AQA Combined Science: Trilogy). Each GCSE is made up of a third of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If your child happens to study Separate Sciences (formerly “Triple Science”) they will cover more content which will allow them to potentially leave with a GCSE in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. to aid your revision.
Encourage your child to begin revision as early

upcoming PPEs.
Encourage your child to attend all P6
Spanish sessions.
Ensure your child has breaks and a healthy
work life balance.
Revision should be short and purposeful, 30
minutes revision then 10/15 minute break.
Support your child with their revision. Ask to
see their speaking booklet and test them– the
questions are translated!
Support your child with their speaking. Ask
them to explain examples of role plays,
picture-based discussions and conversation
topics to you and present their one minute
presentation/starter for the conversation.
Encourage your child to use languages ‘
websites such as Memrise, duo lingo,
Pearson active learn at least three times a week
for 20 minutes each time.

These sessions are a great opportunity to clarify
any misconceptions students may have/ recap
any topics not covered yet.
When preparation begins for the speaking
exams, students will be provided with days/slots
to attend period 6.
All period 6 sessions are compulsory, unless your
child has been advised otherwise due to speaking
preparation
