Review Arrival Process

• Upon arrival report to the OGE with your immigration documents.• Meet with your academic advisor.• Be sure you stay in Full-Time Status or are Authorized for

Tips for Educational Success!• Go to class!• MC Policy 2.10.3 States: A Student receives a grade of F in any

course immediately upon accumulating the following number of absences in that class:• 12 in semester classes meeting 3 times per week• 8 in semester classes meeting 2 times per week• 4 in semester classes meeting 1 time per week• 6 in summer day classes• “some specific requirements may vary according to the

nature of the course”• MC Policy 2.10.4 also says, “For lesser number of absences the

student should expect a lower grade in the course. ... The calculation of the semester grade is the responsibility of the professor and may vary according to the nature of the course and the grading scale used.”

Tips for Educational Success

• Go to class on-time – maybe even arrive 5 minutes early!• Read your Syllabus• Really listen to your instructor and take detailed notes• Pay close attention to your Academic Calendar

Academic HonestyMC Policy 2.19 defines Plagiarism:

“No student shall submit as his or her own work any term paper, research paper, thesis, or any other academic assignment of original work that in any part is not in fact his/her own work. Knowingly using the ideas of another person and offering them as one’s own original ideas is prohibited by this policy to the same extent as knowingly using the words of another writer and offering them as one’s own original writing.”

Consequences:• First Offense:

• Forfeiture of Financial Aid• Probation for One Year

• Second Offense:• Forfeiture of Financial Aid or

Scholarships• Permanent loss of ability to

participate in Internship Programs

• Suspension from the University for up to one year

• Possible permanent suspension from the university

Tips for Buying a Car• Anything $2000 or less is not a good deal - you will

probably get a car that is very unreliable and needs a lot of mechanical work.• Be wary of buying anything from Craigslist.com.• Cars.com or CarMax.com are good places to start looking

for a used car. • The MC shuttle van schedule can be found at:

Reminders from the OGE• Be sure to notify the OGE of your local address if you have not!• Be sure to get your Mumps, Measles, and Rubella immunizations and your tuberculosis tests completed. These are due the week before mid-term (Oct. 15). You will not be able to view your mid-term grades without having done these!• If you are a general admission student, please be sure to provide your professors with the English proficiency evaluation and have them turn into the OGE by Oct.15!• If you find that you are beginning to struggle in class or did not do well on your first exam, please notify Mr. An, Ran (an@mc.edu) immediately to sign up for the mentor program.
