Types of Classes

• Online – ONL– Shared with other

colleges– Different start and stop

dates than other WCC courses

– Instructors and students may be from other colleges

Types of Classes

• Online – OL– Whatcom Community

College private course that use our own start and stop dates

– Instructor and students will all be from WCC

Types of Classes

• Hybrid – HY– WCC private course that

use our own start and stop dates

– Instructors and students will be from WCC

– A percentage of your in-class time (F2F) will be replaced by working online through the Angel system

Type of Classes

• Web Enhanced – WE– WCC traditional ‘face-to-face’

courses that use our own start and stop dates and use Angel as a course management system.

– Instructor and fellow students will be from WCC

– Seat-time in class is NOT replaced. You will be required to have computer access to get assignments.

Online classes are not easier, just taught using

different tools.

of the quarter.

• You are responsible for checking into your online classroom often to keep up with work and other assignments.

• The instructor KNOWS how often you log on and what you do in the online classroom.

• As soon as you have access to your class…check for a week zero folder or syllabus and get your books ordered/purchased

• Yes, you do have to interact with other people in online classes.

• Online classes are varied and different just like classes in the real world. Don’t expect them to be all the same.

• If you are having problems connecting to your class, contacting the instructor, or other issues don’t wait more than 4 days to get help.
