Online Orientation Required for all Online Courses.

Student Orientation Online Courses
• Students are required to complete the Student Orientation in order to register for Online Courses
• What is the Student Orientation for Online Courses? A presentation accessible through NMSUA web-site that will prepare students for successful online learning and navigation in Canvas.
• Who should complete the Student Orientation for Online Courses? All students enrolled in fully online and hybrid courses are required to complete the Student Orientation for online Courses before being able to access their courses in CANVAS. The Student Orientation for Online Courses is designed for quick completion – usually in less that an hour.
• How does the Student Orientation for Online Courses Work? When you first access NMSUA website look for NMSUA online courses orientation and click on the button to go through the material. Then take the evaluation and submit. After you complete orientation you will be able to access your courses on or after the course start date.
• Do I have to take the Student Online Orientation for Online Courses every semester? No. Students who have completed the orientation once will not have to take it again for three years.

• Do you have a private place away to set up computer and do school work away from distractions?
• Do you have the essential skills to keep up with the demands of an Online class. E.g. Time management, Organization, and discipline.

NMSU-A Online Student assistance:
• The Learning Technology Center (LTC, CB 102) offers hands-on training on how to use Canvas. • Training is available at the beginning of each semester and the before the 2nd mini-semester (8 or 5 week) starts. • Contact the LTC at 575-439-3625 or go online to The LTC Training Calendar and sign up for a “Canvas Student Orientation.” • Individual assistance is also available; call or email ([email protected]) to schedule an appointment. • The LTC also offers limited technical support for computer issues with Canvas or in-person classes.

• Check your payment deadline. Payment plans are available in the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Pay for your classes or contact Financial Aid.
• Check with the bookstore for textbooks.
• Inquiries to obtain Student ID’s in Student Services
• Locate all classes before classes begin.
