Just last year, franchisor

Nestle’s Toll House Café

by Chip wanted to

refresh and expand its

mall kiosk. They turned

to Ikoniq, a leading

designer and manu-

facturer of custom carts

and kiosks, for help.

The new design—shown

here in its most recent

build, in a Dallas-area

mall—allows more

space for products and

creates an area where

customers can relax with

their treats.

Same great

taste…

The menu consists not

only of cookies, but

cakes, brownies, ice

cream, milk shakes,

smoothies and a full line

of hot and frozen coffee

drinks.

To help customers

understand the varied

menu and allow

operators to make easy

changes, the kiosk

employs eight

independent digital

signs.

All new look

and feel

The art for the mural is

actually part of the

laminate; it has not been

applied as an applique

or been painted.

Obviously, this increases

durability and lowers

costs.

Materials

Few mall kiosks offer

customers space to

enjoy their products.

One criteria Nestle had

was that people should

be able to sit while they

ate and drank, perhaps

even visiting with

friends.

In some installations,

space affords seating to

be placed outside of the

kiosks. Here, a

barstool/counter

arrangement with

sneezeguards makes

efficient use of the

kiosk’s perimeters.

Decoration

One challenge provided

by the Nestle Toll House

Café kiosk was creating

a space where

everything from ice

cream freezers (shown),

soda machines,

warming trays, Panini-

makers and more could

fit in a 15-foot by 20-foot

installation.

A person involved with

the project compared it

to designing the space

shuttle: the most in the

smallest available

space, at the lowest cost

and weight.
