  • The Invensys Information Highway; What is it, and Why do we need it?June 7, 2002Permitting a unified view of our business

  • Why do we need an Information Highway?

  • Why do we need an Info Highway?Enterprises that can act quickly on new information have a competitive advantage.Ability to do this lies in ability to capture knowledge and to integrate systems holding that knowledge. One of the barriers to becoming One Invensys is our diverse IT infrastructure. Most data required for decision support already resides in legacy information systems. Challenge lies in extracting, standardising & manipulating this data and delivering it to the users on a timely basis in a format that meets their requirements.

  • Setting the Stage for the RTEA Real Time Enterprise follows a strategy that stresses velocity in making business decisions, and has the information technology that enables that velocity. The Real Time Enterprise Framework provides the business processes and technology that allow the immediate exchange of information across geographical, system and organizational boundaries

*Enterprise information lies in the heads of employees and in the systems that they use. Competitive advantage lies in the ability of an organization to capture knowledge and to integrate the systems holding that knowledge.

  • Invensys plcTypical of companies formed through mergers and acquisitions, Invensys has hundreds of existing business systems. These business systems are heterogeneous in nearly every conceivable dimension: vendor, technical platform, data formats, business process support, etc. However, the volume and disparity of systems makes it difficult, if not impossible, to get a timely integrated view of the landscape in which we operate and compete.Integrating these systems is a non-trivial task, traditional approaches carry unreasonable risk and cost

  • We need;A roadmap to the informationA way to make sense of the many ways existing systems house dataAccess to our business information in an easy to understand integrated fashionA cost-effective method of application integration

  • To cost-effectively integrate the islands of information resident in knowledge and business systems and make the resultant knowledge useable across Invensys.
