How to give a PowerPoint Presentation?

Step 1:Research for your topic
Research - is an investigation into a subject in order to discover or revise facts, theories, applications, etc.
Types of research: Books Magazines, Journals Newspapers Web ( websites, blogs )
Step 2: Create an outline
Outline – is the base or foundation of your presentation.
Create an outline using word processor
software: Microsoft Word Notepad
Create an outline: A
A. Choose the structure of your presentation:
Chronological – explaining how something happened Spatial – for giving directions Causal – explaining cause, effect Problem, solution – describing a problem followed
by a solution to encourage action. Topical – for open ended topics
Create an outline: B
B. Organize your material
1. Introduction (opening)2. Stating the theme3. The body: - Clear main points - Repetition4. Conclusion
Step 4: Choosing design and color for background
Choosing design 1. Click “Design” tab on the top of the screen 2. Choose template depending on your theme. 3. Upload different theme designs available online if needed.
Choosing color Click “Design” tab, then “Colors” tab on the right
Dark colors – better to read, calming Warm colors – for graphical elements
Step 5: Font
Font size Titles and headlines 44 to 54 Regular text 24 to 32
Font Color Keep strong contact between the color of the background
and the text
Step 6: Include visuals
PicturesClick “Insert” tab, then click “picture” choose and uploadpicture from the library of your computer.
Links a Web Resource Type a word that you want to use as a link. Highlight the wordand click right. Choose “hyperlink” . Type or copy the link intothe pop up box. Click “ok”.
Graphs, chartsClick “Insert” tab , then click SmartArt or Chart , then fill in theInformation.
Step 7: Break down your message
Click on “Home” tab, then choose the tools from the “Paragraph” section.
Separate your main points and sub points by using:
Numbers Dots Squares Letters Checkmarks Dash lines Changing the font’s: size, color, boldness, underline
Step 8: Equipment
Make sure you have all of the needed equipment for presentation:
- Your presentation saved on memory card, flash drive- Digital Projector - Computer- Audio Equipment- Video Equipment (DVD player, video internet links, the
correct player to play them)
