Instagram is a social networking app made for

sharing photos and videos from a smartphone.

Similar to Facebook or Twitter, everyone who

creates an Instagram account has a profile and a

news feed.

When you post a photo or video on Instagram, it

will be displayed on your profile. Other users who

follow you will see your posts in their own feed.

Likewise, you'll see posts from other users whom

you choose to follow.

Creating an Instagram Account

Before you can start using the app, Instagram

will ask you to create a free account.

You can sign up via your existing Facebook

account or by email. All you need is a

username and a password.

It's always a good idea to customize your

profile by adding your name, a photo, a short

bio and a website link if you have one when

you first get on Instagram.

When you start following people and looking

for people to follow you back, they'll want to

know who you are and what you're all about.

How Hashtags Work

Hashtags help organize and categorize

photos and video content, which aids the

process of content discovery and

optimization.

For example, a REALTOR® might post a

picture of a SOLD property and use the

following hashtags: #JustSold

#FixandFlip #Hustle

Interactions are highest on Instagram

posts with 11+ hashtags.

Page 16: How REALTORS can Benefit by Instagram

Why Use Hashtags?

Instagram hashtags are one of the

best ways to grow your Instagram

account. Using the right hashtag (or

combination of hashtags) can help you

expose your content to large and

targeted audiences.

A hashtag immediately expands the

reach of your post beyond just those

who follow you, to reach anyone

interested in that hashtag phrase or

keyword.

Because you only have 60 seconds to get your

message across through video on Instagram, it

is a curse and a blessing. It is a blessing

because it prevents you from burning bridges by

posting 30 minute videos that no one is

interested in.

On the downside, it is not enough time to say

much. That’s why you have to get your thoughts

together and understand your purpose before

you start shooting a video. Even a self-made

video using your iPhone should be clear and

concise.

Creating Videography

Page 19: How REALTORS can Benefit by Instagram

Resist the impulse to clutter up your Instagram page

with videos. Use a short 15 second video tour as a

teaser that sends them to your YouTube Channel.

There is where you can post all of your professional

grade full length videos like:
