Health and Safety

Dear Colleague,

It is clear that the premier asset within Skanska UK is our employees, therefore our most important value is the consideration of health and safety in everything that we do.

Within our health and safety training strategy we aim to provide our management teams with the support and material they require. This ensures all employees are given the required levels of upto date training and education needed to carry out their role.

Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility, socially, legally and morally. By reducing the amount of accidents and incidents we shall improve productivity, effi ciency and moral. It is common knowledge that proactive health and safety management is cost effi cient.

Our aim is to continue developing our education strategy to meet the needs of the business and the changes within the industry. It is essential we continue to drive the training and education of our employees so that each and every project has the right person in the right place at the right time. This will enable us to build on the existing solid health and safety foundations we have, and be even better.

Our foundation health and safety education (from July 2008) includes the addition of the ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus course namely the ‘Site Manager Safety Training Scheme’ and the ‘Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme’. Thse schemes aim to develop our staff and trade contractors supervisors/management to a level whereby they are competent to effectively control, influence and communicate health and safety issues on site.

We are sure that you will all join Skanska in this essential drive to be professional, innovative and the best.

Stuart Mitchell Health and Safety Training Manager
