The content has been updated to reflect </p><p>current contact information and organizational structure. </p><p>GUIDELINES: This Bulletin outlines District Policy regarding Halloween activities to allow </p><p>students to participate in enjoyable, positive, and controlled activities, while </p><p>maintaining student safety. </p><p>The following guidelines shall apply: </p><p> Students may wear costumes to school according to guidelines established by the school. </p><p> One of the most important mandates is that costumes shall not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender </p><p>identity (boys as girls and vice versa), nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual </p><p>orientation or to any individual staff or student at the school. </p><p> Costumes may not cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program such as revealing costumes (e.g., low cut, French maids, nightwear, </p><p>and bathing suits). </p><p> No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard. </p><p> No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school. </p><p> No masks are allowed that completely hide the identity of the student; how-ever, masks may be worn during a parade or other specific activity, provided </p><p>that safety is not hindered, as determined by the site administrator. </p></li><li><p> LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Policy Bulletin </p><p>BUL-5298.1 Page 2 of 2 October 26, 2015 </p><p>Office of Educational Services </p><p> No costumes are allowed that would impair a students vision or movement (e.g., ability to climb stairs). </p><p> All restrictions and guidelines regarding obscene materials or prohibited substances remain in effect. </p><p>AUTHORITY: This is a policy of the Chief Executive Officer of Educational Services. </p><p>ASSISTANCE: Please contact your Local District Operations Coordinator for questions.
