Diary Welcome to Week 2 of Term 1 2019. Our kids have settled into school extremely

well. Classrooms are settled and our learners are engaged. Teachers and students

alike are reporting a real culture of learning and being your best in the classroom,

which is great to hear.

We have begun the year with 225 students and 22 new Kindi kids. We have 11 main-

stream classes and 3 support classes. We have continued to prioritise class numbers

of around 20 students. This involves a massive injection from our school fund and

the employment of 4 extra teachers, but the initiative makes a real difference to

each and every learner in our school. Appropriate class sizes and high quality teach-

ers remains our focus for 2019.

Infants’ teachers are supported by Christie Williams. Christie is our Instructional

Leader and her focus is on making sure our staff have all the tools necessary to en-

sure your child learns and achieves to their full potential each and every day. The

infants’ team consists of Julie Daley and Lisa Scott on kindergarten and Sally Wesley,

David Moseley and Colleen Edwards on Stage 1. (Year 1 and 2). Ms Edwards will be

on leave for Term 1 and replaced by Mrs Laila Wadling. Laila was with us for the last

half of 2018 and has quickly become a key member of our teaching and learning

team. Infants will also be supported by Deb Vassallo, Megan Zell, Luke Bateman and

Olivia Rokodakunivosa.

Stage 2 is supported by Mrs Robyn Beauchamp. Robyn has been an Instructional

Leader for the past few years, but has returned to our school in 2019. A lot has

changed since Rob was last here and she is very excited to re-engage with our school

community and students. Mrs Beauchamp is joined by Mrs Gail Smith and Mr Nick

Lambert as the Stage 2 teaching team and they will be supported by Pete Bula and

Cass Notley.

Stage 3 team leader is Matt Freebairn. Matt successfully applied for this position in

2018 and is very keen to get in and support our Stage 3 teachers to provide engaging

and relevant learning experiences for all of our senior students. The Stage 3 team

also includes Mr Jaxen Heward, Mrs Yvonne Parkins, Lee Symington and George Ed-

wards.

Our support classes provide a specialised environment for students who need even

more intensive support than in our stage groups. This team is led by Ms Gill Baker

who is joined by Mrs Gretchen Tsujimoto, Mrs Kerry-Anne Dillow, Linda Batten,

Marea Hennessey and Kim Mitchell. Kim is away this term and will be replaced by

Mrs Sue Smith.

The final piece in our teaching and learning puzzle and perhaps the most important member of our teaching and

learning team is YOU! Our families are integral to the success of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact

your child’s teacher, their team leader or myself should you have any questions or concerns. We are all working to

make sure each and every child in our care reaches their full potential in all areas of their development and we can-

not do this without your help! Encourage your child to do their homework, read each night and come to school eve-

ry day. A quality education unlocks the door of opportunity for our kids, so encourage their engagement and sup-

port us to do everything we possibly can to allow them to be their very best.

I am excited for 2019 and the special things that our students will achieve. We will be busy and there will be incred-

ible opportunities for all in sport, debating, public speaking, Gumbaynggirr, drama, dance, travel, music, building,

technology, art, leadership, Numeracy and Literacy.

Have a great week. Todd.

School Uniform

The P&C are now selling school uniforms out of the canteen. There will be someone there each day for the rest of this week, and then only on Fridays for the rest of the year. Order forms are available from, and may be left at, the front office Mon-Thurs. Orders will be filled each Friday and given to your child to bring home. Payment must ac-company the order, either in cash, or by direct deposit into the P&C Account. BSB: 062-637 Account No: 10080097 Account Name: FPVC P&C Association. If paying by direct deposit, orders will be filled once payment has cleared.

Update Details

The beginning of the year is an ideal time to make sure the school has correct contact details for all its students. If you have a new phone number, have changed address, or wish to update your emergency contacts, please let us know. It is vital that we have these details correct in case we need to contact you urgently.

Lost Property

Please ensure that EVERYTHING your child has at school - uniform, lunch boxes, drink bottles etc, has their name on it. You would be amazed at how much lost property goes unclaimed.

Mobile Phones

Although students should not bring mobile phones, ipads and gaming equipment to school, sometimes they do. These items must be left at the front office in the morning, where they will be securely locked away. They may be picked up again in the afternoon.

Jumping Jack Ants

We’ve noticed a few Jumping Jack Ants around the playground. We are having them treated and will isolate play-ground area where needed. We have ice ready to go and will ring parents if a bite occurs.

Piano Lessons

Do you know someone, a friend or

relative, interested in playing piano?

Piano is a “sport for the brain”, and just like any regular sport, you’ll need a certain ability, patience, practice and

dedication. I am an enthusiastic and experienced teacher (or coach!).
