Fri 1st Dec Family Fun Night

Diary Welcome to Week 10 of Term 3. It has certainly been a hectic term but rewarding as well.

I was so jealous each time I heard from the Stage 3 Excursion while I was in Finley. It sounds as though

the kids had an incredible time and I am certainly looking forward to hearing all of the stories this

week. Thank you so much to all of the staff who gave up their time with family to attend. This is a mas-

sive sacrifice and I am sure that our school community will join with me in thanking them for their

efforts and dedication towards the needs of our incredible kids. A special thankyou to Mrs Leahy for all

of her work behind the scenes. Mrs Leahy manages the overall excursion preparation and had many

spanners thrown into the works leading up to the trip away and took them all in her stride!

Mrs Bekis sent me a photo of our future netballers on Thursday and they looked great in their uni-

forms! By all reports they had a wonderful day of Netball, learning lots and trying their best.

Stage 2 is very excited about their robotics visit today. Mrs Smith has been coordinating a visit from

Bowraville Central School where they will bring over their robotics team to show us just what is out

there nowadays for our kids. We will be sharing our 3D printing technology with them. This will cer-

tainly be a great way for our kids to get a glimpse of what their future could possibly hold!

Finally, we will be welcoming Miss Wesley back next term. 6/5W have been an absolute pleasure to

learn with. The kids have shown some real growth in their maturity and application which is something

that I am sure Ms Wesley will be glad to see in Term 4. Our staff have been extremely patient in allow-

ing me to support our 6/5W kids throughout Term 3 and our community have also been extremely

supportive by making appointments at various times to see me.

Thank you to our whole school community for an incredible term! It was crazy at times, but all of our

stakeholders showed an incredible willingness to work together for the benefit of our students.

Have a great holiday and a well-earned break. 1st day back next term is Monday the 9th October.

Todd.

Class of the Week

2/1D

Congratulations

NAPLAN Online

Our Years 3 and 5 students trialled the new NAPLAN Online last week. This was NOT a real test. It was an opportunity

for schools to see how the new system would run. All went well and we look forward to next year’s NAPLAN. Go to

https://www.nap.edu.au/online-/naplan-online-public-demonstration-site if you’d like to learn more about NAPLAN

Online.

Great Book Swap

Our school will once again host a GREAT BOOK SWAP on Wednesday 20th September in support of the Indigenous

Literacy Foundation. This year we do not require any donations of books for our Swap; instead students are en-

couraged to swap a 20 cent piece for a pre-loved library book! Students will have the opportunity to snap up some

great bargains while supporting this worthy cause. Funds raised are used to purchase new books for indigenous

children living in remote communities across Australia, with a vision to lift literacy levels and instil a lifelong love of

reading.

Spelling Bee Thriller!

Congratulations to our four Regional Final Spelling Bee contestants; Oliver Collins, Joshua Jacob-Harju, Lucy Smith

and Shayla Colb who competed via Video Conference on Friday.

The audience were kept on the edge of their seats as all four students conquered round after round. 40 students

from all over NSW enjoyed the challenge at each of the junior and senior levels. Joshua (Year 3) survived until

Round 3 and Oliver (Year 4) survived until Round 4. Well done boys!

Both Lucy and Shayla survived until Round 7 and were among the final 6 contestants. This was a tremendous per-

formance from both students, who had only returned from the Stage 3 Sydney Excursion the night before.

Our spellers are to be commended for the practise they have put in since winning our school Spelling Bee and their

commitment to the event. Thanks also to their teachers who have provided daily encouragement.

From the Library:

Students are reminded to return overdue Library books this

week. Notices have been issued. Students without overdue

loans are welcome to borrow for the holidays.
