Schools may choose to participate in all or some of the different events.For each event, one team per school or 2 participants (for individual events) can register. Registration is free.

First Steps- Pre-Primary: 5-6 years(Upper KG)Confident Striders- Primary: 6-8 years, 8-10 years

First steps..Super Tales (Age group 5-6 years: Senior KG)

Date: 7th September

Rounds: 1

Mode of competition: Online

Time: 3 minutes

Description: The participant can select a character from one of the given movies, dress-up likewise and perform a short act based on that character. Costume and props used should be made using materials available at home and should not be store bought or hired.

Criteria for judging: Fluency, confidence, content, diction, prop and costume. Extra points will be awarded for creatively reusing and recycling materials for making the props and costumes.

Participants: Maximum of 2 students from each school

Pick ‘n’ Speak (Age group 5-6 years: Senior KG)

Date: 7th September

Rounds: 1

Mode of competition: Online

Time: 3 minutes (1 minute for preparation and 2 minutes for presentation)

Description: Children will be given topic numbers ranging from 1-10 in random order. The student can choose a number and speak on the topic allotted to that number and whatever number is chosen will be removed from the list and the next participant will choose from the remaining numbers in random order. The child will get 1 minute to prepare on the topic chosen followed by the presentation for 2 minutes

Criteria for judging: Presentation and Delivery, Confidence & Diction

Participants: Maximum of 2 students from each school.

First steps..Rhyme ’n’ Rhythm (Age group 5-6 years: Senior KG)

Date: 8th September

Rounds: 1

Time: 3 minutes

Mode of competition: Online

Description: The child can recite a poem chosen from the list of poems given under. He / she needs to use a prop (custom made with materials available at home) pertaining to the theme of the poem.

Criteria for judging: Pronunciation, voice modulation, presentation, props.

Participants: Maximum of 2 students from each school

Confident Striders..Enact and Narrate (Grades I-II: Age group: 6-8 years)

DescriptionStudents to dress up in any popular English Story Character and speak about the character. They need to enact the character that they have chosen and narrate a story based on the character. There will be two rounds for this competition.

Final Round

Topic- The Tales of William ShakespeareFor this round, submissions to be made as a video.The duration of the video to be 6 mins.

The participant should deliver the narration dressed up as the character and will have to enact and narrate the lines choosing any character from the Tales of William Shakespeare.

The participant can use props to narrate the story.

The recording needs to be submitted on time with good quality shot in good lighting, clear audio and background.

Preliminary Round

Topic- Classic Stories/ Cartoon Characters

For this round, submissions to be made as a video.The duration of the video to be 3 mins.

The participant should deliver the narration dressed up as the character enact and narrate the story.

The participant can use props to narrate the story

The recording needs to be submitted on time with good quality shot in good lighting, clear audio and background.

Confident Striders..Extempore (Grade III- IV: Age Group: 8– 10 years)

DescriptionThere will be two rounds in this competition.

Preliminary RoundThe topic would be provided to the selected students on spot. One minute would be given for preparation. It would be conducted through Google Meet/ Microsoft Teams/ Zoom.The link would be sent to the qualified students.

Confident Striders..Spellathon (Grades I –IV : Age Group: 6– 10 years)

DescriptionThere are four age groups which comprise the four categories in this event.

There will be several rounds in this competition.

A spelling challenge in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.

Initially a Selection round will be held. Participants will answer 25 questions on a Google Form/Microsoft Form. If selected, they qualify for the Preliminary Round.

Details of each subsequent round will be shared after participants qualify for that round.

Trotting Merrily..Sell-a-Deal (Grade V)

Mode of participation: Online

Description - The participants will have to sell a trivial object/concept/thought in a creative and credible manner.

The Topic will be assigned on the spot, and some preparation time will be given.

Presentation can include jingles ,stories, humour, technology, and a costume/accessory.

Preparation time – 15 minutes after the topic is givenPresentation Time- 2.5 minutes

Criteria for Evaluation: Presentation, Language, Humour, Content, Originality

There will be one round in this event.

Nevertheless (Grade VII)

Mode of Participation: Online

Description : The participant would have to create a social media page ,posing as a literary character on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

Preparation time : Online - 20 minutes Buffer time- 5 minutes ; negative marking after the completion of 25 minutes

Submission : Submissions to be made to the mail ID provided.

Criteria for Evaluation: Presentation, Creativity, Content, Originality, Concept

There will be one round in this event.

Trotting Merrily..19 to dozens (Grade VII)

Mode of competition: OnlineDescription The participants would be given a theme based on a literary or a historical event. They will speak “on air”, basing all commentaries , conversations and songs on the given topic. Each team will have two members and each school may have a maximum of two teams. Preparation time – 5 minutesPresentation time – 5 minutes

Criteria – Presentation, creativity , relevance , choice of songs and language

Inflame (Grade VI)

Mode of competition: Online

Description – Quiz based on questions from literary works, authors , poets , names of classics , characters , events. Two participants per team and one team per school.

Time : 15mins. Per round. Rounds : 3

Total Marks : 5 marks(Team question), 3 marks.(Rebound question)

I Am The Change (Grade VI)

Mode of Competition: Online (Topics will be provided in advance.)

Description – The participants would have to dress up as a literary character and appeal for votes. The speech has to be completely original.Preparation time – 15 minutesPresentation Time- 3 minutes

Criteria – Language , Relevance , Impact and Presentation

Galloping thunderously..Milord (Grades VIII-XII)

Mode of competition: Preliminary round: Offline, Elimination and Final Round: Online

Description :

Topics would be based on literary characters. Participants would have to prove their points for or against the topic.Each team will have 2 contestants.Only 2 teams can register from each school.

The registered participants have to send their arguments ‘FOR’ and ‘AGAINST’ to the mail ID provided.Only 25 teams will be registered on the ‘First come first served ‘ basis and only 10 Teams chosen on the basis of merit will participate in the Elimination round on 7th September 2020.Only 4 Teams will qualify for the Final round on 8th September 2020.A compulsory rebuttal round to be included.The participant will be judged on the credibility of their arguments, their presentation and use of language.Time : 3 + 1 mins.

Galloping thunderously..Generation Z (Grades VIII-XII)

Mode of Competition: Offline

Description : The participants will conduct a live reporting session .They can include videos, include live reporting sessions with other participants posing as the crew.( Cameraman, general public, correspondent etc.)

Time : 5 minutes.Each team can have 3 members from the same school.

Topic will be provided 24 hours prior to the event.

A recorded version of the performance to be sent to the mail ID provided.

Only 30 videos to be considered on a first come first served basis.

Three winning videos to be chosen post Judgement.

Use of sarcasm or any negative , derogatory comment is strictly prohibited.

Criteria: The participants will be judged on presentation, creativity, humour, coordination and their use of soft skills.

Galloping thunderously..Click Charade (Grades VIII-XII)

Mode of Competition: Online

Description :

Visual clues(3) will be provided for the participants. They will have to identify the ‘Name of a book” or an ‘Author’.

Rounds 2 (Round 1: Elimination, Round 2: Final)Time: 20 secs for each question.

Scenario(Grades VIII-XII)

Mode of Competition: Offline

Description :Original story written in form of a script.Only first 30 entries to be considered. ( First come first served basis)Entries to be sent on the mail ID provided.Scripts to be neatly typed.

Criteria: Participants will be judged on their originality, use of language, credibility, relevance and development of the plot.

Blog Writing(Grades VIII-XII)

Mode of Competition: OfflineDescription: A blog is to be creatively written within 500 words.Each team will have two members.The following format is to be used: Format- Times New Roman Font Size- 12, Line space- 1.5Has to be sent as a PDF to the mentioned Mail ID.Details of the participant to be clearly mentioned and attached to the mail.Entries displaying plagiarism will be disqualified.

Criteria: Creativity and relevance will be considered.
