    View. Create. Explore.

One of  my favorite TED talks is by Sir Ken Robinson, an English

author, speaker and internaonal advisor on educaon in the

arts.  In this talk he discusses the noon of  creavity and in

parcular, the role of  schools in fostering creavity. If  there was

    one ‘big

     idea’

     which

     runs

     through

     his talk,

     it is about

     the

hierarchy of  subjects which many schools  and school systems

around the world create, by valuing more tradional ‘academic’

learning areas, over some of  the more creave pursuits, such as

dance, drama, art and music. He quotes the famous arst Pablo

    Picasso, when he says,

“Picasso once said this, he said that all children are born ar  sts.

The problem is to remain an ar  st as we grow up. I believe this

passionately, that we don't grow into crea vity, we grow out of

it. Or rather, we get educated out of it.”

From next Tuesday 12th April, we will be hosng the Elementary

Art Show for 2015/16. View. Create, Explore. This is a me for

our students to showcase some of  their creavity in Art over the

past year.  It is also a me to come and create and explore

yourself, with an interacve area designed for everyone to

become arsts themselves. Please do come and  join us through

the week and help to dispel the noon that schools kill

    creavity.

    A MESSAGE

    FROM THECLINIC

    Head Lice Checks

Next Monday 11th April, we will be commencingour final (of four) regular head lice checks. Weknow that everyone is susceptible to head lice, however children in an Elementary school setting are even more susceptible. Head lice is easily spreadthrough head-to-head contact.

Our checks involve one of our nurses visiting every classroom in the Elementary school and individuallychecking each student. In the event that a student is found to have head lice, they will be personally con-tacted by the Clinic (in confidence) and also sent information regarding treatment. Should there be twoor more cases within a particular class, all students in that class will receive a generic letter regardingtreatment and raising awareness.

Should you have any question about our program please get in touch with our Clinic administratorDorothee Binsfeld (840 8581 or BinsfeldD@ismanila org).
