As India played the official host for the World Environment Day 2011 celebration, a 5 day event called the Knowledge Park was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India (GOI) at Dilli Haat, New Delhi from 1st to 5th June 2011 which was facilitated by the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) Delhi and GEF UNDP SGP. Around 37 Paryavaran Mitra and NGC (Eco Club) schools from different parts of India (16 schools from Delhi/NCR & 21 from other parts of India) participated in the Knowledge Park.
As India celebrated the World Environment Day 2011, A Green Haat (Marketplace for NTFPs) was organized at the Dilli Haat by the MoEF. The MoEF felt the need that the schools must share their success stories in environmental awareness and proactive actions for a sustainable future in order to sensitize the public coming to visit the Dilli Haat during the 5 days.
