Thanks or choosing UPF Education Abroad Programs for your academic

experience in Barcelona. We, faculty and staff will keep working to make

this a quality and rewarding academic experience.

Now it is time for you to choose the courses that you want to enroll in

during the 2nd and 3rd terms.

Please, read the following instructions carefully and follow the steps as

indicated. Good luck with the process and welcome to UPF!

1- Select the courses you want to enroll

As a UCEAP student you are able to choose among different academic offers:

Term 2: HESP, Language and UPF direct enrolment courses at the School of

Economics and Business Administration.

Term 3: courses at the School of Economics and Business Administration and

Academic Internship

To select your courses from our various offerings, please do as it follows:

1.a. Decide the courses you want to take and Work out your schedule and

timetable

Important:

Workload! The recommended workload is 20 ECTS per term. You have to contact

the exchange/study abroad coordinator at your home university to find out how

many credits you are required to enroll during your semester abroad.

Check the courses available for international students at

To navigate the information about UPF regular courses, please follow the

instructions below:

o First, select field of studies or Faculty (i.e. Economics)

o Then click on grado offer

o click on course code

o Finally, click “OK” to check course information, meeting times

and language of instruction.

Beside your academic interests, when selecting your courses you have to take

into account:

Term. You can exclusively enroll in courses taught during the second

term (if you are leaving in April) or third term (if you are leaving in June)

Group. Some courses offer several groups. Choose the one that is most

convenient, taking into account the language of instruction and its

schedule

Practice Groups/Seminars. We don’t enroll you on practice groups or

Seminars; we will enroll you in the “Theory” group and your professor

or the Secretary of the pertinent school will place you automatically on a

practice/seminar group. Please, note then that you have to work out a

suitable schedule of classes taking into account that you can be placed in

any of the seminars.

In case you wanted to take this course, you have to block the following time

frames in your schedule:

Group 102: from 21.09.2011 to 02.12.2011 Wed. from 9:00 to

10:30

Group 103: from 21.09.2011 to 02.12.2011 Mon. from 14:00

to 15:30

Once you have been assigned to one of the seminars, you will be notified. This

usually happens a week or two after the course starts. It is the secretary of each

UPF School who does it and students are informed of the assigned group by the

professor and through the aula global (intranet).

Then, you will have “free” time slots in the other seminar sections you pre-

blocked.

Language of instruction. It can be Catalan, Spanish or English. Bear in

mind that you can do your assignments and exams in any of those

languages

Course Schedule. Avoid course overlaps, so that you can assist to all

courses you have enrolled. When working out a suitable schedule, bear in

mind that you may need to move from one building /campus to another.

You can have consecutive classes when they take place in the same

campus, but you should save around 15 minutes to “commute” to and

from ESCI an 15 minutes to move to and from the Communication

Campus.

Important:

Registration is processed on a “first-come, first -served” basis.

Please bear in mind that specially in studies such as Economics, Business Management

and Administration, Humanities or Audiovisual Communication, some of the courses have

limited places for international students.

2. Get your login & password for the UPF

Intranet (Campus Global)

Follow the following steps to get your login and password for accessing Campus

Global (where you will find the enrolment form):

1- First, go to Universitat Pompeu Fabra main website http://www.upf.edu

(You may change the language of this site into English or Spanish)

2- Go to Campus Global (on the top right-hand side of the page)

3- Click on “Ajuda”

Important:

Please note that it is determining that you complete this process of getting login &

password in order to access the pre registration survey.

Also, from now one you will able to access to UPF intranet.

4- Press the button “Obtén el codi” personal d’accés

5- Enter the information requested and press the “Acceptar” button

Cognoms = Surnames / Family Name

Any de naixement = Year of birth (yyyy)

6- Your login will be a number preceded by a “U”

7- Once you have your login, go back to UPF main page. In the Campus

Global section (up right side), enter the login and password, which, by

default, it is your date of birth in the European format, that is, ddmmyyyy

(d:day, m:month, y: year)

8- Please note that the first time you log in your Campus Global, the system

will ask you to change the password, for security reasons

Important:

Write down your login and password. The UPF intranet (Campus Global) will be a

useful tool for work and communication during your studies at UPF, and the

place to submit your course choices

3- Apply for the courses you want to enroll

There will be ONE course registration period

Registration for Term 2 and Term 3 courses will be from November 18th to 25th.

A. SUBMIT YOUR COURSE CHOICES

To submit your course choices, please follow the instructions:

1- Log in the UPF intranet (Campus Global), following the instructions

explained in section 2 of this Guide

2- Select AULA GLOBAL > Access to my classrooms:

Important:

Please remember that spots are limited and administered in a first-come first

serve basis. The sooner you submit your course choices (following the

instructions below), the better!

3- Select the “aula” named UPF STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM SPRING 14

4- Read the instructions carefully and fill in the questionnaire named "Pre-

Registration UCEAP STUDENTS SPRING 14”. Bear in mind that you can

only submit it once

5- Choose which courses you want to enroll

Remember that you only have to indicate the courses you really want to

enroll in (and their backup options): you don’t need to fill in all the

camps

5.a. If you want to take Spanish Language courses, indicate the level you

are expecting to enroll. Please note that there will be a language

Placement test on-site to determine which your exact level is. If the

appropriate level is not the one you pre-registered, we will add you to

the correct group.

5.b. Follow the instructions to chose HESP course, using the dropdown menus

and indicating a backup option (alternate course).

5.c. REGISTRATION FOR UPF REGULAR COURSES. Click on the school

Economics and Business Administration courses and you will find the intructions

to fill in the form

5.d Include your comments (if any) and check if your selection is correct before

sending it. Remember once you have submitted it, it can’t be modified

4- What is next? Registration to courses and

add/drop

Once you have successfully submitted your course choices, our staff

will register you to courses directly. Note that, completing the

process described in this handbook does not imply that you are

actually registered in the courses, but that you have informed us of

your choices.

Once our staff has registered you, you will be duly notified.

You can then check the status of your registration by login in “Aula

Global”, Access to my Classrooms. Once you have been successfully

registered in a course, it will appear in the list of your classrooms.

Remember that you can add/drop courses once on-site.

After attending two class sessions, you can try to add/drop courses to

finalize your registration, if applicable.

The add/drop process will take place on-site, after an individual

appointment for academic advising with our staff.

Please, note that the UPF Education Abroad Program does not have a

policy of withdrawals. Therefore, after the add/drop period, your

registration will be finalized.

Important:

Add/drop of courses is also processed on a “first-come, first -served” basis.

Please bear in mind that in some studies such as Economics, Business

Management and Administration, Humanities or Audiovisual Communication,

some of the courses have limited places for international students.
