Earthquake relief effort by GSTLNC After much discussion within GSTLNC team during telephone conference calls at the end of May and beginning of June, regarding the utilization of money raised as part of Help Nepal’s Earthquake victims, a decision was made to send money to GSTLNC outgoing President Ashim Lamichanne, who is currently in Nepal, in phases through MoneyGram service. The team also wanted Ashim to propose a plan before sending the money to Nepal. Ashim’s plan to distribute relief materials to about 350 families in Dhading Aagingchok ward number 1, 2 and 3, with the help from local volunteers from Pokhara and some donation from local communities in Pokhara was approved by the GSTLNC team. Ashim’s initial proposal and estimate dated May 7, 2015: Hi All, I can't thank you all enough for your generous support during this difficult time. We have finalized the location to travel and distribute relief materials. I have talked with several volunteers in the last few days and Aagingchok seems to be an area where we could go and help the affected families directly. I have also found out that taking relief materials to a place where we do not have local contact is very difficult. We have a local personal from Aagingchok who will travel with us and help us distribute the relief material. Once we have gathered all the materials from the list below, we will load all the materials in a truck and head towards Dhading. We are planning on leaving Pokhara on Friday early afternoon and returning on Saturday. Here is a list of materials we are planning to take with us. Renting one truck- cost about 25-30k Tents 200 pieces 75k Rice 10 kg bag 350 bags 150k Dal 2 kg bag 350 bags 70k Oil 5L 350 100k Rope 5k Chiura 5kg bag 350 bags 70k Our preliminary estimates for all the materials above came close to 495-500k, however I will have more accurate figure tomorrow morning. I will send you a formal bill with either VAT or PAN number. Along with the above materials, we are also bringing clothes and basic medical supplies with us which we team here will personally fund. I will keep you all posted on the progress and once again your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks Ashim Lamichhane

In the video below, an elderly person in Aagingchok, Dhading expresses his gratitude to

GSTLNC and the relief team:

Loose interpretation of the video:

I was born in 2095 BS. (I think he meant to say 1995). My name is Rabinath Thapaliya. I am in

Aaginchok ward no. 1. My name is Rabinath Thapaliya. I did not see the earthquake in 1990 but

what I see today is that everyone here do not have food to eat, they do not have place to stay

or sleep. This situation for them is really bad. Anything that you provide us kindly will go to

these people. So far we have not seen any of our elected government parliament member, any

ministers or any Neta come to our community. No one has given us any hope. No one has said

anything good or bad. However we have received few buckets of rice and other things here and

there by public like you. We have been surviving on these things given to us by you and the

others. We are all outside in open ground. We are sitting and sleeping under trees. There are

no tents, not enough food and nothing to wear for these people. There are sitting under trees.

Just recently a few have received few tents from public and some are living under these tents.

Whatever food we had is under the pile of mud and ruble in our houses. It is really bad in here.
