FROM the moment Faye Matthews walked intothe Transform Salon and Spa she felt that shewas in professional hands.

The dance lecturer had initially been nervous whenasked by Newcastle-under-Lyme College’s hairdressinglecturers to be a model for a makeover.

But she was only too happy to help the College-basedsalon to demonstrate its on-trend skills in giving clientsaccess to the latest fashionable looks.

Her hair was styled by experts who used a layeringtechnique to take out volume and exaggerate thelength, and was then dip-dyed to give the illusion ofdeep roots shaded through dark ash brown and copperto very blond ends.

“We gave Faye a look familiar to followers of thecatwalk and celebrity scene,” said Anthony Keates, thelecturer who cut and styled her hair together withcolleague Amy Stott.“We used Matrix colours to achievethe look we had discussed with her during theconsultation.”

Faye, who teaches A Level students at the College, wasalso given a make-up makeover by Beauty TherapyLecturer Laura Price who created a “1940s pin-up lookwith a modern edge” using MAC Cosmetics brow powderand a MAC palette of ash browns and metallic opal forthe eyes.

Afterwards a delighted Faye said:“I thought the salonwas lovely – very professional and clean. There’s amodern feel with purple décor, and they have the latestproducts.

“I was really pleased with my makeover. It’s made melook quite different and I received a lot of compliments.”
