It’s cliched at this point to note that our reality feels like it’s been scripted by the writer of a horror film. But maybe that’s why reality TV has become such a desirable distraction from what’s happening IRL.

If you’re looking for shows to keep you glued to your couch — or at least keep you entertained enough not to venture outside un-necessarily — we’re here to help. While this is by no means a com-prehensive list, it’ll hopefully intro-duce you to a show you wouldn’t have sampled were you not doing your part to stay at home. In fact, some were discoveries in my own early days of staying home (cough “Guy’s Grocery Games” cough).

“Vanderpump Rules”Let me hook you with this: Ap-

parently Martin Scorsese, he who has thoughts on whether Marvel films are cinema, is a fan of the show. (Of course, the veteran film-maker has yet to publicly confirm or deny the claim, but Rihanna definitely digs it.) With eight sea-sons under its belt, it’s likely you’ve heard of this gem. It’s a spinoff of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and revolves around former and current employees of West Hollywood’s SUR (an acronym for Sexy Unique Restaurant), owned by “RHOBH” alumna Lisa Vander-pump. The series is like the love child of every soap opera and and young-adult drama that’s ever aired on TV. It’ll have you Googling recipes for beer cheese; trying to understand the reason for SUR photoshoots; questioning if it really was about the pasta; and looking up Redfin listings in Valley Village. (Just watch, it’ll all make sense.) You’ll be wondering how the edi-tors of the show haven’t won an Emmy.

“Project Runway”I was skeptical, but the new ver-

sion of “Project Runway” — back on Bravo after 11 seasons at Life-time — has returned the series to my TV fold. The decision to cast former contestant-turned-red carpet guru Christian Siriano in the mentor role previously oc-cupied by Tim Gunn was an A+ move. Judge Nina Garcia, the editor of Elle, is the only remaining original cast member. She’s joined by new judges Elaine Welteroth, the former editor of Teen Vogue, and designer Brandon Maxwell, with model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss taking over as host. The 18th season, which wrapped last month, had some colorful moments. That time a contestant made a quip about Kloss’ relation-ship to the Kushner family (Kloss is married to venture capitalist Josh

Kushner, whose brother Jared is married to Ivanka Trump), for instance, or the many delicious occasions on which Garcia was clearly peeved with designer Ser-gio Guadarrama. If going through the whole catalog is overwhelm-ing, consider catching up on the revamped seasons (17 and 18).

“Guy’s Grocery Games”Just imagine it: a supermar-

ket’s shelves fully stocked with more than 20,000 items. It’s a beautiful sight we will, hope-fully, never take for granted when life gets back to normal. Hosted by Guy Fieri, whose un-naturally blond locks will serve as yet another reminder to stock up on bleach, the “Supermarket Sweep”-meets-”Chopped” food competition series pits chefs against each other in a three-round elimination contest, using ingredients found in the grocery store under guidelines set by Fi-eri. When Mexican restaurant Los Agaves opened in mid-January

after converting from strictly Americanized Mexican food to a mix of more traditional Mexican fare, business was booming. Two months later and the novel coronavirus has taken its toll on the restaurant that specializes in Mexican seafood.

Los Agaves switched mid-January to become a fusion of a sit-down mexican restaurant and a taco truck, offering its big-dish specialties along with everything one loves about taco trucks, such as street tacos and traditional mexican torta sandwiches.

“We try to combine American and traditional Mexican food,” Los Agaves manager Pansilo Morales said.

It specializes in seafood, deal-ing out favorites such as carne asada and camarones, which is grilled skirt steak and shrimp with onions, jalapenos, pico de gallo and guacamole, served in either a spicy diablo or mild gar-lic mojo sauce.

cos, which start at $2 a piece, com-plete with homemade in-house tor-tillas. It’s signature dish, however, is the molcajete, which is a sizzling dish in a large stone mortar and pestle bowl with grilled steak, chicken, pork and shrimp in a homemade salsa and the homemade tortillas.

“Here in Centralia, I don’t see any restaurants doing the molcajete like we are doing,” Morales said. “When we bring it to the table it’s still sizzling.”

Even with those tasty dishes, the last two weeks have been challeng-

ing, Morales said. The primarily sit-down restaurant is now taking to-go orders and has since started offer-ing delivery service to combat the restrictions on in-house dining.

“We were doing very good and people were coming to try (our food), but after the coronavirus it’s getting very worse,” Morales said. “It’s very, very difficult right now.”

Before the restaurant restrictions, Los Agaves normally opened from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., but since then the cus-tomer drop off during night time hours has forced it to close around 7 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Friday and

Saturday they are typically open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant will stay open past 7 p.m. on weeknights if or-ders are still coming in, however.

“After 7 p.m., the streets are emp-ty so nobody is going out,” Morales said. “We will keep it open a little lon-ger, depending on how the streets look like.”

Still, most orders don’t start com-ing in until 1 p.m. or so, Morales said. All of this has caused a sharp decline in business as Los Agaves has lost 80 percent of its typical revenue.

It does help that it’s located in the commercial area between South

Gold Street and Kresky Avenue. They are staying afloat on word-of-mouth from employees who work in or near the surrounding commercial area.

Morales came to Centralia from Yakima a couple months ago and doesn’t know many locals yet, only his fellow restaurant neighbors across South Gold Street at Zabdi Teriyaki.

“I told them, ‘If you need some-thing just let me know,’” Morales said. “They said the same thing to me. Hopefully it doesn’t go any longer. Like two more weeks? It’s dif-ficult. After this coronavirus, it’s get-ting very, very hard.”

DEAR STUNNED: Contribute what food exactly? A box of crackers? A fruit salad? Money? I don’t blame you for being upset. It certainly looks like you have been pushed aside.

Did your daughter send you that message or did her mother-in-law? I ask because it is considered a breach of eti-quette for an honoree to throw her own shower. Talk to your daughter. However, do not allow this to drive you away. Attend the shower. If you don’t attend, it may be the beginning of an estrangement.

DEAR ABBY: Is it OK for me to be carrying my boss’s belong-ings to his car at the end of his workday? Is it acceptable for me to be making his coffee a certain way and picking up his lunch? I was hired as a second ad-ministrative assistant, but I feel more like a maid/servant/slave. It’s 2020! I don’t think women should be treated like this any-more. Any advice? — UNCERTAIN IN THE EAST

DEAR UNCERTAIN: Abso-lutely. Have a chat with your employer and review what your duties are supposed to be. Nowhere in your letter is it

apparent that your boss is singling you out for these tasks because you’re female. If you had proof this was the case, it would be another matter. Because you find these tasks demeaning, consider look-ing for another job because this may not be the place for you.

DEAR ABBY: My boyfriend of 15 years is in prison. We have two children together. Our re-lationship has been rough. We had a fight, and he went to jail for it. Another reason he went to prison is he violated his proba-tion and failed to report.

I take the kids to see him, and he still wants us to be together. He has nowhere to go when he gets out. How do I tell him I don’t want him back at my house without him retaliating on me? — AFRAID IN TEXAS

DEAR AFRAID: This is how. Tell him plainly that because of the circumstances that sent him to jail, you no longer want him living under your roof. It’s bad for the children. Therefore, he will be finding other living arrange-ments when he is released.

He may not like it, but please remember you owe him nothing. You have to stand your ground for your children’s sake. Should he stalk or threaten you in any way, go to the police. Tell them you are afraid of him and why, and ask about a restraining or-der because he is violent.

DEAR ABBY: When my hus-band and I eat a meal, as soon as he’s finished he gets up and wanders around. We call that the “wandering” phase of his meal. I have asked him to no avail to stay seated and talk with me. I think it is disrespectful.

My husband also pulls out his phone when we are out with friends. I have told him that what he’s doing is basically telling them he would rather see what’s on his phone than converse with them. He doesn’t do it for the entire meal, but when he does, it irritates me. How can I get

basic manners across to him? — LONELY AT MEALTIME

DEAR LONELY: I knew a per-son years ago who had an im-pulse control problem similar to the one you describe your hus-band having. The man had been in an auto accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. In your husband’s case, it appears he either has attention deficit dis-order or “suffers” from a lack of consideration for your feelings. There is help for the former, but you can’t teach basic manners to someone who doesn’t want to learn. You have my sympathy. Try not to let it give you heart-burn.

DEAR ABBY: I work as a par-cel clerk in a major retail store. The biggest part of my job is re-turning shopping carts from the parking lot to the lobby. Shop-pers have a habit that makes my job a lot harder than it needs to be, so I want to get this mes-sage out to as many people as possible:

PLEASE push your shopping cart ALL THE WAY into the next one when you put it away. I’m not asking you to bring your cart all the way back to the store. Just remember that each cart can nest into the one in front of it.

You have no idea how much faster I could do my job if ev-erybody did this. Thank you for helping get the word out. — PLEA FROM THE PARKING LOT

DEAR PLEA: Glad to help. And as long as we are on the subject of shopping carts, may I add that those cute little straps that are meant to secure small children in the upper compart-ment of the cart tend to get caught and lock the carts to-gether if folks are careless after they unhook their children. It can be next to impossible to un-tangle those carts. I speak from experience.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have been married for 15 years. Before we married, I pur-chased a house. He moved in a month after our wedding and made a lot of improvements to it. We are now in the process of doing more renovations.

His mom moved in with us two months ago. Before she moved in, the plan was to take the downstairs — which has a living

room and a bedroom — and convert it to a bedroom and a room leading out to a patio to have another entrance to our swimming pool. But she wants to decorate that room with her furniture and use it when her friends and family visit her.

My husband says, “She is 77. She doesn’t have many more years left, so let her do what she wants.” He always adds, “I can tell her she isn’t wanted and find somewhere for her to go, but I don’t know where it would be.” I have always given in, but he doesn’t see it that way.

Should I let someone come into my house and redecorate it differently than how I want it? Please let me know if I am being selfish like he says. — INVADED IN THE SOUTH

DEAR INVADED: Let me get this straight: Your mother-in-law will occupy the downstairs of your home while you and your husband occupy the upstairs? If she wants to decorate her bed-room and the room in which she entertains her visitors, it won’t be a reflection of your taste, and frankly, it shouldn’t be. It is un-derstandable.

What is clear to me is that you really don’t want her living under your roof. Because your husband can’t — or won’t — do the research to find reasonable alternatives for his mother, the task of finding something suit-able is yours.

DEAR ABBY: My husband is terminally ill with cancer and hasn’t long to live. I would like to

ask friends that, in lieu of flow-ers, they make donations to a scholarship fund for three very precious granddaughters who have spent most every day of their young lives with him. They are 10, 8 and 5. He has been their caregiver.

However, we have other grandchildren who are grown and have graduated from col-lege, and great-grandchildren who are the same ages as these three granddaughters. I am afraid of offending these grand-children by not including their children. Is asking for a memorial donation tacky of me to ensure these three granddaughters who have been so close to him are provided for? — PROVIDED FOR IN THE MIDWEST

DEAR PROVIDED: Your adult, college-educated grandchildren should be able to provide for their children without help from you. I assume there is a reason your husband has been the caregiver for the grandchildren whose future you are concerned about. If you and your husband would like to request that friends skip the flowers and contribute to a college fund for them, it’s your privilege. And if you get flak for it, you should explain the reason why.

These are trying times in-deed. While uncertainty

looms in the real world, enter-tainment can serve as a wel-come distraction, if only for a short time. One of television’s most popular series is offering fans a reprieve with a new tale of survival and perhaps even hope.

Teenagers embark on an epic quest beyond the walls of their safe community in “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” slated to pre-miere later this year on AMC. The TWD spinoff focuses on the first generation to grow up during the crisis, with a focus on high school student Iris (Aliyah Royale, “The Red Line”) and her adoptive sister Hope (Alexa Mansour, “How to Get Away With Murder”) as they leave the safety of their community. Nico Tortorella (“Younger”) also stars as Felix, a rule-following 30-year-old community security officer. Before the apocalypse, Iris and Hope’s father saved Felix from a life on the streets, and he feels indebted to serve as the girls’ guardian.

The series was initially scheduled to premiere on Sunday, April 12, but in March AMC announced that it was going to push the debut until “later this year,” which came as a surprise since the entire first season of the limited two-season series has finished filming. However, given the current circumstances, it is understandable that AMC would hold off for now. Those looking for their TWD fix can stream the origi-nal “The Walking Dead” on Netflix and its prequel, “Fear the Walking Dead,” on Prime Video.

Regardless of when it premieres, “World Beyond” is sure to attract a global audience. It’s a good thing that AMC has already lined up a worldwide distribution deal. The show will air on AMC in North Amer-ica, of course. Prime will carry the series in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and most of Europe. AMC Net-works International will air the show in Latin America, Spain and Portugal. When the deal was inked, AMC ex-ecutive Valerie Cabrera lauded the show’s worldwide appeal.

“A franchise and story that is rooted in our collective humanity, the appeal of ‘The Walking Dead’

crosses language and cultural bar-riers,” Cabrera said.

With so many people seques-tered to their homes, a fresh se-ries such as “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” may be a welcome change. It has all of the hallmarks of a successful TWD spinoff, including an ominous premise, gruesome special effects and a talented cast. Emmy winner Julia Ormond (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” 2008) leads as charismatic commu-nity leader Elizabeth. “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” co-creator Scott M. Gimple had high praise for the actress when her casting was announced in November.

“We are thrilled to have Julia join our merry band,” Gimple said in a Variety article. “I’m grateful for the talent, grace, intelligence and hu-mor she has brought to our set, our show and to this role.”

In 2010, Ormond won an Emmy for her role in HBO’s movie “Temple Grandin,” and she was nominated for another Emmy two years later for her guest-starring turn on “Mad Men.” Her other career highlights include the 1994 silver screen epic “Legends of the Fall” and the 1995 remake of “Sabrina.”

But while Ormond may be the most famous of the bunch, the show’s focus is squarely on its young stars. Royale portrays intel-ligent, strong-willed teenager Iris, who leads the charge into the un-known. After performing in church, school and community plays, Royale landed the leading role of Jira Calder-Brennan on the CBS drama “The Red Line” opposite Noah Wyle (“ER”).

Mansour, who plays Iris’s disil-lusioned wild-child sister Hope, has appeared in the films “Unfriended: Dark Web” (2018) and “#Squad-Goals” (2018) and will soon be seen in the indie feature “She’s in Port-land.” TV fans may recognize her from her memorable recurring role as Faiza on ABC’s hugely popular “How to Get Away With Murder.” Mansour’s other small-screen cred-its include “SEAL Team,” “Bull” and “Madam Secretary.”

Nicolas Cantu (“Sofia the First”) portrays 15-year-old Elton, a thoughtful, intellectually curious orphan of the apocalypse who is eager to continue the work of his sci-entist parents. Cantu may be young, but he’s been acting for years. His voice work credits include “The

Amazing World of Gumball” and “Dragons: Rescue Riders” On televi-sion, he’s appeared in such popular shows as “The Unicorn,” “The Good Place” and “Raven’s Home.”

Australian Hal Cumpston (“Bilched,” 2019) stars as Silas, a shy teenager who works as a janitor in Iris and Hope’s community. Rumors have swirled about the teen’s vio-lent nature since he transferred to

the community from a nearby sur-viving city a year ago. Cumpston’s film “Bilched” won the Grand Prix Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay at the 2019 Chelsea Film Festival.

Based on the books by Kathy Reichs, the show follows Seeley Booth (Da-vid Boreanaz, “SEAL Team”), an FBI agent, and Temperance Brennan (Em-ily Deschanel, “Animal Kingdom”), a brilliant, albeit socially inept, anthro-pologist (who Booth calls “Bones”), as they work together to solve murders. This long-running series is available now in full. With the help of her team at the Jeffersonian Institute, which is run by Dr. Camille Saroyan (Tamara Taylor, “October Faction”), Brennan analyzes the remains of victims to identify ev-erything from gender, age and time of death, to particulars about their life and the murder weapon. While Bren-nan and her interns focus on the bones (occasionally having to assemble the skeleton like a puzzle), her artistic best friend and coworker, Angela (Michaela Conlin, “Yellowstone”), does facial and crime-scene reconstruction, and Dr. Jack Hodgins (T.J. Thyne, “Gente-fied”) specializes in examining particu-lates from the body and crime scene,

earning him the title of “King of the Lab.” Meanwhile, Booth follows leads using the information they discover to track down the killer. The series also focuses on the relationships between the team members, especially the dynamic between Booth and Brennan, and eventually introduces FBI thera-pist Dr. Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley, “Freaks and Geeks”), who coun-sels the team and helps with cases by providing psychological profiles. “Les Miserables”This isn’t the same “Les Mis” Victor Hugo wrote in 1862, and it certainly isn’t the 2012 film filled with songs and dances performed by Hollywood stars. French director Ladj Ly’s film does, however, call back to the themes of Hugo’s novel, and takes place in the same Paris suburb where Jean Valjean meets Cosette (Montfermeil, which is also where the directer grew up). The film paints an image of French author-ity’s treatment of the poor, and subtly says, “Look! Things haven’t changed!” Police officer Stephane Ruiz (Damien Bonnard, “Dunkirk” 2017) takes a new job in Paris, and is assigned to a Mont-fermeil anti-crime team alongside fellow officer Gwada and team leader Chris, played by newcomers Djebril Zonga and Alexis Manenti. Stephane watches as Chris abuses his position of power until a brutal confrontation involving a young slum kid, teargas, a flash ball and lions, is caught on tape. Stephane urges Gwada to do the right thing with the tape of Chris’s actions. The film is modern and enlightening and, with a feather-light touch, it issues callbacks to the famous 1800s story it’s named after, creating a poignant call for justice that is empowered by its similarities to the story first told more than 150 years ago. The Oscar-nominated feature will be available on Prime as of Friday, April 10.

“Rambo: Last Blood” (2019)Vietnam War veteran John Rambo (Syl-vester Stallone, “Rocky,” 1976) returns in the fifth installment of this famous fran-

chise, and this time he heads to Mexico

to take on a cartel. Amazon is making

Friday, April 10. Rambo lives on a Ranch

in Arizona with Maria (Adriana Bar-

raza, “Babel” 2006), an old friend, and

her granddaughter, Gabriela (Yvette

Monreal, “Faking It”). When Gabriela

sneaks away to Mexico to confront her

biological father, she is kidnapped and

beaten by the cartel. Rambo finds out,

and is having literally none of that — he

rushes across the border to get her

back. What ensues is a vicious, bloody

battle for revenge on the cartel and its

leaders Hugo (Sergio Peris-Mencheta,

“Life Itself” 2018) and Victor Martinez

(Oscar Jaenada, “The Losers” 2010).

The film wasn’t exactly a hit with critics,

but if you’re looking for intense action

and Sly’s return to one of his most iconic

roles, you won’t be disappointed.

Despite a strong focus on romantic relationships, this se-ries truly shows the importance of good friends. “Friday Night Lights”One of the most beloved dramas in network television history is available on Prime, and you can stream all five seasons now. The series takes place in a small town in Texas, and revolves around the local high school football team, the Dillon Panthers. Integral to the ensemble cast of characters is the team’s head coach, Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler, “Argo” 2012), and his wife, Tami (Con-nie Britton, “Nashville”), who is also the school’s guidance counselor. Many young stars got a start in this 2006 series, including Aimee Teegarden (“Notori-

ous”), Taylor Kitch (“Only the Brave,” 2017), Jesse Plemons (“The Irishman,” 2019) and Minka Kelly (“Titans”). Fans and critics alike praise the show for its realism, and for tackling contemporary issues that remain relevant to this day. Despite the sizable cast, each character is explored deeply, with purpose and intent, allowing them to grow through-out the series. Much of this is due to the story being based on real life, specifically H.G. Bissinger’s non-fiction novel of the same name. Whether you’re re-watching or tuning in for the first time, this binge-worthy drama should be checked off of everyone’s “must-see” list.

“Brews Brothers”On Friday, April 10, this new comedy from “That ‘70s Show” creator Greg Schaffer premieres on Netflix. Coin-cidentally, Schaffer partners with his brother, Jeff Schaffer (“The League”), for this series, which focuses on two brothers who become partners when they end up running a brewery together. Mike Castle (“Clipped”) and Alan Aisenberg (“Orange Is the New Black”) star as Adam and Wilhelm Rodman, who are both geniuses when it comes to beer, but their methods and personali-ties couldn’t be more different. While Adam is laid back and not afraid to get his hands dirty, Wilhelm is all about precision and professionalism. The two clearly want to cater to drastically differ-ent demographics: Adam to the “every-man” and Wilhelm to the elite (early photos show Wilhelm giving a presenta-tion that includes “Chapter Three: Your awful taste is not your fault”). Joining the boys are co-workers Sarah (newcomer Carmen Flood) and Chuy (Marques Ray, “Dr. Ken”). Can the brothers put aside their differences long enough to create great beer and get the business off the ground? Find out when “Brews Broth-ers” premieres this Friday.

“Love. Wedding. Repeat” (2020)Planning a wedding is a monumental

task, and making sure that everything is perfect, from the flowers to the seating plan, can be incredibly stressful. In this new film, Sam Claflin (“Me Before You,” 2016) stars as Jack, whose stress reaches new levels as he tries to ensure that his little sister, Hayley (Eleanor Tomlinson, “Poldark”), has the perfect wedding day. This remake of the French roman-

tic-comedy “Plan de Table” (2012) premieres Friday, April 10. Chaos erupts as Jack struggles to handle the arrival of an uninvited guest and a spiteful ex-girlfriend, not to mention a reunion with his own ex-girlfriend, the proverbial “one that got away,” Dina (Olivia Munn, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” 2016). The film shows the events of the day from three different perspectives, and depicts the chaos that one seemingly small change to the seating plan can cause (chaos that I’m sure many brides are familiar with).

“The Main Event” (2020)On Friday, April 10, catch the premiere of this feel-good family film about an unlikely champion. Leo Thompson (Seth Carr, “Knight Squad”) has one dream in life: to become a WWE Superstar. Unfor-tunately, that doesn’t seem particularly achievable for the small, frequently bul-lied 11-year-old boy. When he finds an old wrestling mask and discovers that it has magical powers that give him super strength, he decides to use the mask to make his dream come true, and enters a WWE competition. Now, with his sup-portive grandmother (Tichina Arnold, “The Neighborhood”) in his corner, he faces opponents who are not only twice his size (at least), but are some of the most impressive names in wrestling, including Kofi Kingston and Mike “The Miz” Miza-nin. The series also stars comedians Ken

Marino (“Childrens Hospital”) and Adam Pally (“Indebted”), and you don’t want to miss this hilarious underdog film.

“Tigertail”Director and producer Alan Yang (“Master of None”) shares the deeply

personal tale of his father’s immigration from Taiwan to America in this film pre-miering Friday, April 10. The story has, of course, been dramatized, and Yang has described the film as “my dream of my father’s dream of his past.” Tzi Ma (“Wu Assassins”) stars as present-day Pin-Jui, a bitter man who has difficulty connect-ing with his daughter, Angela (Christine Ko, “Dave”). Now, he looks back over his life, from when he was a young ideal-ist in Taiwan to the present day. Despite living a hard and impoverished life in Taiwan, young Pin-Jui (Hong-Chi Lee, “City of Last Things,” 2018) is optimistic and in love. His life changes, though, when he ais ushered into an arranged marriage with a woman he doesn’t love, and the couple moves to America. As he reflects on his choice to abandon the home and woman he loved, and consid-ers the years he has spent in a loveless marriage, he begins to understand both himself and his daughter.

Q: Will there be a second season of “His Dark Materials”?

A: Absolutely. That’s an easy one.

HBO and the BBC, who co-produce the huge-budget fantasy series “His Dark Materials,” com-mitted to two seasons of the show when they initially signed on.

There’s been no announcement of a premiere date for the second season, but the first premiered in November, so that’s most likely when the next one will land.

But it’s possible it could come sooner. Since they paid for Season 2 right out of the gate, they didn’t need to pause production to wait for a green light.

“His Dark Materials” stars James McAvoy (“Glass,” 2019), Ruth Wil-son (“The Affair”) and Dafne Keen (“The Refugees”) and is based on a series of fantasy novels by Philip Pullman, and the networks’ deci-sion to pay up front for two sea-sons must have come as a relief to book fans who remember the first screen adaptation. The big-screen version of the first book, “The Golden Compass” (2007), was a box-office and critical flop, and so the subsequent books were never adapted. What’s worse, the movie ended only partway through the first book, so it offered even less closure than usual.

A locked-in second season is good news for fans, but it gets better from there: The networks have turned their eyes already to Season 3.

The first two seasons (roughly) cover the events of the first two books, which means there’s still one more book in the series to go. Series producer Jane Tranter has previously said she would prefer to split that one book (called “The Amber Spyglass”) into two seasons, so future sea-sons have lots more “Materials” to work from.

Q: What is Pam from “The Office” up to now?

A: It’s a testament to both the blessing and the curse of “The Of-fice” that you’re asking about Pam and not Jenna Fischer. (I’m assum-ing you mean the actor — the char-acter is, of course, living happily ever after with Jim in Austin.)

Fischer has been struggling to escape “The Office’s” long shad-

ow. She’s had the kind of success that a lot of actors dream of — lead roles in multiple series, roles in major motion pictures — but it’s nothing close to “The Office.”

And how could it be? “The Of-fice” was one of the most popular sitcoms of the past 20 years.

Compared to that, even her most notable gig — the lead in the sitcom “Splitting Up Together,” which ran for two full seasons on ABC — must have seemed like a letdown. (Ditto for her leading role in the ensemble sitcom “You, Me and the Apocalypse,” which only made it a year on NBC.)

Even a spot in “The 15:17 to Par-is” (2018), a high-profile true-life

drama directed by the great Clint Eastwood, hasn’t stopped people from calling her “Pam” (no offense — you’re far from the only one).

Indeed, she’s finally decided to lean into it, it seems. Last year, she teamed up with fellow “Of-fice” alumna Angela Kinsey (who played Angela, of course) to host the aptly titled podcast “The Of-fice Ladies.” In each episode, they rewatch an old episode and offer behind-the-scenes details and in-sight.
