In 1998, Vijay moved to the corporate sector where he held several senior positions that reported to the Chairman of the Board at Fortune 100 Corporations. At companies such as Duke Energy, ConAgra Foods and PPL Corporation, Vijay implemented the state-of-the-art risk systems for trading energy and related products, ran Treasury Operations, managed pension funds with over $2 billion in assets and managed the risk on $10 billion energy and commodity portfolios. In all three companies, Vijay received special recognition from the Board of Directors for his leadership and successful project implementation.

In 2010, Vijay moved to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as Chief Finance and Risk Officer for ADS Holdings, a Financial Services Company and, a few years later, he was asked to set up AI Rawafed Holdings LLC, an agri-business company, with funding from the Crown Prince Court, to enhance the food security programme for the UAE. At Al Rawafed, Vijay, as Chief Operating and Finance Officer, successfully set up farming and related agri-business ventures in Serbia, Namibia and the Middle East with a total investment of about $500 million. Vijay also served on the Board of Directors of the two holding companies and as Chairman of the Board for many of the subsidiaries.

Since August 2016, Vijay has been in the US where he currently teaches International Finance and Investment Banking at Lehigh University, Bethlehem. He also serves as Director of the Finance Services Lab and advises several student-managed funds.

Vijay is actively involved in philanthropy. In addition to supporting several one-off causes, he has served on the boards of several philanthropic organisations in the local area and financially supports a secondary school and a medical clinic in Nepal on a continuing basis. In addition, Vijay has contributed significantly to victims of earthquakes and floods, funded scholarships in India and Nepal, supports charities such as United Way at the Tocqueville level of giving and has personally sponsored fundraisers for charities in India such as Chinmaya Tapovan Ashram and Trust in Dharamshala.

We left our campus for the trek to Triund hilltop

at 3.00 pm on October 28, 2017. We were a

group of 14 boys and 3 escort teachers. We had

our dinner at Una and reached McLeod Ganj at

Dharamshala at 2.00 am. We checked into the

Morainic Hills. We were completely exhausted

and retired to bed. We readied for trekking quite

early in the morning. We had our breakfast in

the local market and hired a guide for our

adventure to Triund hilltop. We started our 17

km arduous trek at 11.30 am. The scenic beauty

pumped new enthusiasm into us. Our students

interacted with many foreign tourists on the way. We reached the peak by 4.30 pm. We had a panoramic view of

the surrounding hills. The Dhauladhar range was next to us. It was quite cold. The beads of perspiration soon

froze on our faces. Our trekking organiser provided us with hot tea and soupy noodles. We felt a bit comfortable.

We had the bonfire late in evening. We had our dinner and retired to our tents for the night. We witnessed the

beautiful sunrise in the morning. It was indeed amazing seeing it from the hilltop. We had our breakfast at 8.30

am. We started our descent from Triund via Best View which is another hill. We made it to McLeod Ganj by 11.30

am. We left for Dal Lake and ‘Naddi Sunset View’. We started our journey back to Nabha. We halted to see the

Cricket Stadium at Dharamshala. We had our lunch at Nainital. We had supper at the Eagle Motel, Rajpura at

10.30 pm. We reached our campus at midnight. We express our gratitude to Dr Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster, The

Punjab Public School for giving us this opportunity. It was indeed a memorable experience.
