PIB.: On behalf of Consumer Afairs Department, Govt. of West Bengal, the Principal Secretary has issued a notice. recently. In this notice, he has announced the relaxation of rule 27 of the legal Metrology General Rules, 2011. Under this rule, every owner, is to keep certificate of Verification and stamping of weights and measures with validity period. For the Covid-19 and lock -down period, the owners are unable to renew the certificate of verification and stamping, at present. In order to avoid the harassment of the owners, the department has decided to extain the validity period till the further notice. That is applicable to all certificates and stamping, whatever the validity period noted earlier. Although, the officials of the legal Metrology wing will have the full right and power to do the flying checks, whenever it is necessary.

Correspondence : The tug of war is still going on between OMCs and the Petroleum dealers for fixing the dealers' margin on the basis of Apurba Chandra Comittee's scientific formula. An agreement was signed, also between the OMCs and the National Petrol Dealer Federation on 4 November, 2016 to resolve the matter before the end of 2016.The OMCs pledged, also, to solve the other this issue, along with matter, within this period.
