Govt doing the best to save lives: DotasraSatish Poonia along with 25 MPs of the state should get oxygen and other necessary resources from the CentreFirst India Bureau

Sikar: PCC president Govind Singh Dotasra on Friday retaliated against allegations of corona mismanage-ment levelled on the state government by BJP state president Sat-ish Poonia. Dotasra, however, lauded efforts of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also said that Birla is providing full support, whenever needed.

Addressing a press conference at his resi-dence in Sikar, Dotasra said that the state gov-ernment is making the best arrangements to save the lives of people from corona, which PM Narendra Modi him-self has praised many

times. However, oxy-gen, medicines and vaccines dependent on the Central govern-ment are not being made available on time.

In such a situation, instead of doing poli-

tics, Poonia along with 25 MPs of the state should get oxygen and other necessary re-sources from the Centre.

When the state re-quired 705 metric tonne of oxygen, 366 metric

tonne of oxygen was be-ing provided to the state. And now, when 795 metric tonne of oxy-gen is required for co-rona patients, only 366 metric tonne is being transported.

Jaipur: Leader of Op-position Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday held the Ashok Gehlot gov-ernment responsible for the mismanagement, days after the ruling Congress blamed the centre for the same. He said that the chief min-ister and the leaders of his party should stop ac-cusing the center.

Kataria said Ra-jasthan topped in the vaccination for people above the age of 45, which was started by the centre, but the state government said noth-ing about this.

“The responsibility of administering vac-cines to people in the age group of 18-44 was also with the state gov-ernment but the gov-ernment is proving to be a laggard in this and rather blaming the cen-tre,” he said, while re-jecting allegations against the centre.

According to police, the victim was playing outside her house on May 12 and she reached home in the evening crying. The victim’s mother said that the

accused often used to come to their house. According to the po-

lice, the accused’s chil-dren used to play with the victim.

s a Muslim, at least once a year I go on pil-grimage to Mec-ca, Islam’s holi-

est city, located in Saudi Arabia. Muslims perform the short “Umrah” pilgrim-age at any time of the year, and there could be over 19 million pilgrims each year. I have also been to Mecca a couple of times for “Hajj” – the annual major pilgrim-age. Held once a year, this is a mass gathering of over 2.5 million Muslims.

Both the Umrah and Hajj pilgrimages weren’t possi-ble for most of 2020 due to the outbreak of the COV-ID-19 pandemic.

However, Saudi Arabia as a whole has fared well in handling the pandemic. It’s had low mortality rates and minimal social and econom-ic disruption. There’s been widespread testing and vac-cine access. This allowed it

to open up for pilgrims.

TEST AND QUARANTINEFor starters, the Saudi au-thorities required foreign pilgrims to have a negative PCR test result. These had to be taken within 48 hours be-fore arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival, all pil-grims either had to do a mandatory quarantine at a government approved ho-tel for six days, or take a PCR test after 48 hours of quarantine and, if it was negative, could leave the hotel. Travellers from countries categorised as “high-risk” were required to do a mandatory seven day quarantine, but also needed to have a negative PCR test upon completion.

In addition, all pilgrims who wanted a permit to en-ter Haram – the Grand Mosque of Mecca – needed to have a COVID-19 vacci-

nation certificate. It’s important to use all

these measures as they add layers of protection and prevent situations from be-coming super-spreader events. A negative PCR test

alone may not be enough. There’s always the risk of a false negative for technical reasons or due to fraud. There have been reports of large numbers of travellers testing positive at their des-

tination points after testing negative at departure.

SOCIAL DISTANCINGBefore COVID-19, there would be congestion and crowding. This time the

flow of people within the Grand Mosque was well or-ganised. A limited number of worshippers were al-lowed in at a time and there was clear demarcation to ensure physical distanc-ing. Police and mosque or-derlies monitored and di-rected the pilgrims.

Face masks – which pro-vide a barrier and keep the new coronavirus from spreading – were manda-tory. Harsh penalties were imposed on anyone not wearing a mask or trying to enter the Haram without a valid permit. Daily text messages reminded us about the penalties and public health measures.

The markedly restricted number of pilgrims – to 50,000 a day from a huge capacity of hundreds of thousands – made it easier to manage people and en-force measures.

he ray of hope regarding peace across the western border and normalization of relations between the two neighbours has be-come a victim of power politics in Pakistan with the hawks all set to put every spoke to ensure that the process does not take off. In a departure from the past, the “status quoists” do not belong to the uniformed fraternity only but a strong group of hawks has emerged among the nation’s polity as well. The leading voice of hawks in civies is the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mo-hammad Qureshi who was also instrumental in forc-ing Imran Khan to take a U-turn as regards resump-tion of trade with India was concerned. There ap-pears to be a divide among the power blocks in Paki-stan. While Gen Qamar Bajwa is behaving like a moderate, desiring a para-digm shift in Indo-Pak re-lations, Qureshi on the other hand is busy creat-ing an impression that the ball is in India’s court and any talks with India are subject to India agreeing to restore status quo in Jammu & Kashmir. Is the entire exercise genuine or façade with the duo trying to enact Jekyll and Hyde?

There is no doubt that the India Policy of Pakistan is conceived in the Army Head-quarters known as General Headquarters (GHQ) and not by the Foreign Ministry, a usual practice among democ-racies. Is the authority of the all powerful Army Chief be-ing challenged? There is no denying the fact that a very strong group of hardliners exists in the Pakistan Army. The group is least interested in improving relations with India which literally would mean losing the Army’s par-amountcy in the affairs of Pakistan. For any General to venture to cross the Rubicon, it is mandatory to take into confidence and win over the Hawks within the Army.

In the past Gen Zia and Gen Musharraf attempted to offer a hand of friend-ship to India but both took their time to stabilize themselves and assume

firm control of the Army. While Zia took nine years and Musharraf five to sta-bilize themselves and offer an olive branch to arch ri-val India, Gen Bajwa dared to do it just after three years and that too when on an extended tenure. Obvi-ously, he has failed to take the status quoists on board. The status quoists enjoy the support of the lower ranks and large sec-tion of junior officers, a group highly radicalized, which perceives the move as a surrender to India.

In order to ensure that Ba-jwa’s vision of a shift from geo-strategy to geo-econom-ics does not see the light, the hawks have floated a narra-tive that it is India which needs peace with Pakistan rather than the vice-versa. Bajwa found it easy to enun-ciate his vision but is finding it extremely hard to manage

the same. The hawks are sell-ing the idea that India is a bigger beneficiary of peace due to its declining economy and various internal chal-lenges as well as the threat from the Chinese. As per them, it is the opportune mo-ment to force India to roll back 370/35A. Bajwa knows

that the hawks are day-dreaming, living in a fool’s paradise and evading reality but finds himself isolated among the hawks.

Bajwa to convince the hawks has gone to the ex-tent of letting out certain state secrets which are usually not revealed. Dur-

ing an Iftaar party hosted for the foreign diplomats he revealed that hectic back door negotiations are going on between the In-dian National Security Ad-visor Ajit Doval and the DG ISI of Pakistan. This revelation is necessitated to give weight to Bajwa’s narrative because when the persons negotiating enjoy status and confi-dence of respective nation-al leadership and also have direct access to them gives credence to the fact that both nations are serious and sincere towards the peace process and these are not rendezvous for ex-change of pleasantries and social niceties.

India on the other hand is desirous of an end to cross border terrorism and eradi-cation of poverty from the South Asian region. India recognizes Pakistan as the

main stumbling block and perceives negotiations with the adversary a necessity for the same. India therefore has never shied away from talks or negotiations with Paki-stan beginning with the com-posite dialogue in 1998 till as recently as August 2015 as a fallout of the Ufa statement between PM Modi and PM Nawaz Sharif. Every time the hawks in Pakistan succeeded in derailing the peace pro-cess. That’s why despite de-siring peace India has to be very cautious.

The leader of the hawks Shah Mohammad Qureshi on the other hand is deter-mined to upset the apple-cart. In a latest interview with a Turkish news agen-cy in Istanbul he said, “If India is willing to re-visit some of the decisions it took on August 5, 2019, Pa-kistan will be more than happy to engage, sit and talk and resolve all out-standing issues.” Though he was wanting to sound less hawkish the contents of his statement were ob-vious. It was a blatant at-tempt to interfere in In-dia’s internal matters and sell the hawkish narrative of India being a bigger beneficiary and hence keen on talks. He further stated, “So, when the In-dian leaders expressed an interest in recommitment, we welcomed it. And that has, in my view, lowered tensions and has gone well on both sides. Sensible ele-ments on this side and on that side have welcomed this new development.” A highly spin-doctored state-ment to support the hawk-ish narrative at home.

During the above- men-tioned interview, he not only contradicted himself but also the Army Chief Gen Bajwa. Only a couple of days back in another interview to a Turk-ish television network, TRT, he categorically rejected the speculations of any “secret talks” between Pakistan and India through backdoor channels or third - party in-volvement. Obviously, hawks are not ready for the change in status quo and Bajwa has to do a lot of homework to tame them. He may be forced to use the Chanakya’s policy of “Saam Daam Dand Bhed” (Accord, Price or Incentive, Punishment, Creating dis-cord). Best option for India is to wait and watch and not be in any hurry.

Price hike in anti-Covid supplies due to import of raw materials: ChinaNew Delhi: China on Friday said the prices of some of the COV-ID-19 medical supplies like oxygen concentra-tors being procured by Indian companies from Chinese manufacturers have gone up as they had to import raw mate-rials to meet the excess demand from India. Re-sponding to a question from the official media here on India’s Consul General in Hong Kong Priyanka Chauhan’s re-cent remarks calling on China to stop surging prices of medical sup-plies to India, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chu-nying told a media briefing that China has been encouraging its companies to meet In-dia’s procurement to meet the country’s surge in corona cases.

Soaring prices of medical supplies like oxygen concentrators and disruption of cargo flights to India are slow-ing arrivals of medical goods, Chauhan said this week. On price in-creases, especially of the oxygen concentra-tors, the Chinese for-eign ministry spokes-person said that the feedback from the Chi-nese manufacturers suggests that they had to import raw materials to meet the demand. —ANI

Jaipur: The sacred fes-tival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with joy but within strict lockdown restrictions in the state. The Eid prayers were performed large-ly in the houses with very less people seen on the road. In the mosques, only the Imam and the manage-ment committee offi-cials offered prayers to get the world rid of Co-rona epidemic.

Most of the people greeted each other through phone and so-cial media, instead of hugging each other. On the occasion of Mithi

Eid, Muslim families made other delicious dishes including the kheer in the hous-es and there was no round of feasts. Earli-er on Thursday, Mus-lim religious leaders had appealed to the

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/010/2019-21

Rajendra Chhabra

Jaipur: Probably for the first time in the his-tory of Tax Board- Ajmer, the outgoing Chairman of the Board ‘relinquished’ the post as no new Chairman was appointed.

Girraj Singh retired on April 20, as the Chair-man of the Tax Board. Usually, the government appoints the new Chair-man before the retire-ment of the sitting Chairman or gives the

additional charge of the post to the Chairman of Revenue Board.

However, this time, the government neither appointed the new Chairman nor gave the charge to the Revenue Board Chairman, R Ven-kateswaran, who him-self has not attended his office after April 1.

The post of Tax Board Chairman is held by an officer belonging to the cadre of ACS or Princi-pal Secretary, but no of-ficial of this seniority is

available for this post at present. Due to the Cov-id-19 induced lockdown,

most of the government offices are closed and hence, the government

feels no urgency to ap-point the Chairman of the Tax Board.

Three officers of ACS cadre- Veenu Gupta, Pawan Kumar Goyal and Rajeshwar Singh, are currently posted outside the Secretariat, but none of them is willing to go to Ajmer.

Below the rank of ACS, a total of 19 Princi-pal Secretaries are there, but almost all of them are currently hold-ing important posts. The post of Principal Secre-tary in some of the im-portant departments, like Rural Development

& Panchayti Raj Depart-ment, are falling vacant & in such a situation, it is difficult to spare any of the officers to be as-signed the responsibility of Tax Board.

Around half a dozen Principal Secretaries are ‘over- burdened’ & holding additional charge of other depart-ments. Recently, Akhil Arora was given the ad-ditional charge of Medi-cal & Health Depart-ment due to deepening Covid-19 crisis.

Medical Education Secretary Vaibhav Gal-riya said all the private and state hospitals have been instructed to up-date information of bed availability daily on the

RajCovid Info portal and display the related information in the wait-ing area of the hospital.

In all 'Covid Dedicat-ed' hospitals, the 'Round the Clock' duty of phy-sicians will be ensured. He also advised that while inspecting wards, all doctors should talk to the patients and their relatives positive-ly to help enhance their confidence. Govt to act stringently against black marketeers of drugs: CMFirst India Bureau

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Fri-

day, said that the State government would take strict ac-

tion against hoarding and black marketing of medicines and oth-er essential items. Ge-hlot, in a social media post, said that even in the critical circum-

stances of the global Corona pandemic, some

people are commit-ting the evil act

of hoarding and black

market-i n g

and the State government would take strict action against such people.

In view of the shortage and black marketing of medicines in Rajasthan, the State government is not able to move towards self-sufficiency of manu-

facturing medicines for serious diseases. Pres-ently, there are about 300 companies related to manufacturing of medi-cines in the state, but there are no companies manufacturing medicines for serious diseases.

There is a huge short-age of about half a dozen medicines and injections used in treating the Cov-id-19 infection. These medicines are being or-dered from other states or abroad. Regarding Rem-desivir itself, the State government has said that obstacles are being cre-ated to allow them to come from the states where these companies are in place. At present, there is shortage of Rem-desivir Injection, tocili-zumab, unilastin, methyl-prednisolone, enoxaparin injection, piperacillin tazobactam, and ampho-tericin B injection.

#Parshuram_Jayanti. The occasion of Akshaya Tritiya is considered to bring in hap-piness and prosperity into our lives, but this year we are facing a serious challenge in the form of Corona pandem-ic. In such a situation, people have willingly postponed their marriages on this auspicious occasion.

anu Choudhary, a trailblazing model who was born and brought up in Ghaziabad, Ut-tar Pradesh be-came one of the most exciting faces to watch from the model-ling industry. Ta-nu’s confidence and the way she embraces her natural looks has helped solidify her as a role mod-el for girls and young women.

When asked about her journey,

she shared. “I was born in a small town in Ghaziabad and completed my educa-tion there only. After that, I moved to Jodhpur with my parents.” She further add-ed, “I was always a bright student. Coming from a conservative family and city, it was inconceivable for me to think of fashion and modelling as my ca-reer. Everyone in my fami-ly opposed it. My real strug-gle began from there. I re-member not telling my parents about the auditions I was appearing for, only my brother knew. Later, when I got selected in Miss Elite Rajasthan, my par-ents believed in me and gave me wings to fly and follow my passion. I came to Jaipur for a week-long training program.

I was awarded as Elite Miss Rajasthan Rising Star which completely changed

my life. I am an in-dependent woman living in Jaipur now and I can’t be more proud of what I have become.”

“I met Gaurav Gaur, Director Elite Miss Ra-jasthan, he is my mentor who not only believed in me but helped me tap my potential. He showed me the right path and guided me at every step of my journey so far. I can’t be more grateful to him”, Tanu said.

The model’s mantra of self-love makes her the per-fect fit. She strongly be-lieves in fighting for a world where every girl chooses her future. Well, Tanu was very fortunate to have learned so much at a young age and she’s now using those experiences as a platform to speak truth to others.

Supreme dicta-torship. Nazi Germany, un-der the blind leadership of Hitler, hell-bent

upon annihilating, the very ex-istence of the Jews from the face of the Earth. Meticulous planning. All resources uti-lized with stopwatch precision. Utter disregard of life. Gas Chambers. Torture cells. Bon-fires of little children. Mass Graves. Cattle trains suffocat-ingly stuffed with human be-ings. Blind autocracy.

80 years hence, 2020!The Dark Era ???Open Democracy. Complete

Freedom. Man is liberated. Educated. Every luxury at hand. Independence to take any action.

Look what we have brought upon ourselves... An invisible, insignificant, little virus, has brought us down to our knees-- complete disregard of life. Peo-ple again dying, like cattle. Pyres burning everywhere. Pa-tients dying... not in Freight trains, but luxurious hospitals. Gasping for a breath of pure air. Utter chaos. Greed. Corrup-tion. Complete disregard of hu-man life. Where is humanity headed? Abysmal degradation of moral & human values.

‘Night’ is a 1960, autobio-graphical book by Elie Wiesel, based on his Holocaust experi-ences with his father, in the Nazi German Concentration camps at Auschwitz and Bu-chenwald in 1944-45, towards the end of the Second World War in Europe. It’s a harrow-

ing, heartbreaking and brutal memoir, and an unforgettable account by a teenage survivor. His narrative is subjective, highly touching and personal. By applying techniques like irony, contrast and foreshad-owing, he talks about the emo-tions he experienced in the concentration camps.

“We must take sides. Neu-trality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence en-courages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when hu-man dignity is in jeopardy, na-tional borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion

or political views, that place must- at that moment- become the centre of the universe”.

In a substantive new preface, Elie reflects on the enduring im-portance of ‘Night’, and his life-long, passionate dedication to ensuring that the world never forgets man’s capacity for inhu-manity to man. It marks the cru-cial first step in Wiesel’s project to bear witness for those who died. The book first published in 1955, is a constant reminder of man’s capacity for inhuman-ity. It was originally named “And The World Remained Si-lent”. He was awarded the No-bel Peace Prize in 1986. Ironi-cally, when it comes to survival, it’s the animal instinct that wins, not cares, not empathy, not relations. It’s a story of sur-vival, strength, loss, of grief.

How can such events happen in a modern Western country? Did such a world exist- where live babies were thrown into chimneys as useless stuff. How

would it be to travel in a cattle train, heaped on each other with no breathing space? How is it to steal a piece of dried bread from one’s father, or worse to kill him for it? Imag-ine the pain of a 13-year-old boy as he narrates, “An SS came towards us, wielding a club. He commanded: ‘Men to the Left. Women to the Right’. Eight words. Eight simple, short words. Eight words were spoken quietly, indifferently, without emotions. It was the last I saw of my mother and three sisters”.

‘All that was left was a shape that resembled me. My soul

had been invaded and devoured by a black flame’. ‘I was the ac-cuser. God, the accused. My eyes had opened, and I was alone, terribly alone in a world without God, without Man, Without Love, Without Mercy’.

Elie Wiesel survives, an empty shell of a man until 11th April 1945, the day the Ameri-can Army liberated the camp. Millions of Jews were slaugh-tered. The Nazis in Germany, set out to build a society in which there simply would be no room for Jews. It is obvious that the war which Hitler and his accomplices waged was a war, not only against Jewish

men, women, children but also against Jewish religion, Jew-ish culture, Jewish tradition and therefore Jewish memory.

The modern world watched on!

Do you want this past to be-come your future???

The film released on an OTT platform. Radhe is the story of a turf war in Mumbai’s

drug-peddling scene when a new lord – a guy called Rana (played by Randeep Hooda) enters the picture, and a sus-pended cop Radhe (played by Salman Khan) is called in to bust this deadly racket that has led to an outbreak of ad-diction and deaths among the city’s youth.

In this film, Salman Khan brings back the memories of the 2009 hit film Wanted. With Prabhudeva back behind the camera, Khan has the license

to go ahead with his one-lin-ers and unnecessary action. Disha Patni was no surprise in this film, except for her fit body nothing is impressive about her in the entire film. Jackie Shroff would have done far better if he would have declined this role. Ran-deep Hooda hands down are the best in the entire film, it’s a testament to his acting chops that he manages to in-fuse a certain menace to his character. Even while he is

relegated to strutting down the streets of Mumbai and conducting his business from ramshackle warehouses, there is a badass swagger you can’t ignore. In short, he’s the only real character in an oth-erwise over-the-top, larger-than-life drama.

It’s all in all Salman Khan film where he can be easily noticed making a mockery of science and logic. A must watch the film only if you are a BHAI fan.
