1. PURPOSE

The survey service was required to determine the topography of the river around the work

site. These maps are used to determine the condition and around existing pipeline

between protection pile the river at the location of jobs. The survey was conducted by

means of echo sounder equipped with RTK-DGPS positioning system.

2. SCOPE

The scope of work of this procedure is covering the bathymetric and topo survey to obtain

topo and seabed profile in working area.

This location need to be surveyed to have details of water depth information and river

contour depth. The work shall be carried out utilizing echo sounder, RTK DGPS

positioning system and Total Station.

The objectives of this survey are as follows:

To identify and to mapping river contour depth around pipeline and existing protection

pile area

To map river contour depth at the survey area in a scale of 1:1000 at the survey area

of 100m x100m before the installation sheet pile and protection pile.

be carried out along the following designed survey lines. The main lines will be

run across the river and along around pipeline area with an interval of 2m and

the cross lines will be run perpendicular to the main line with an interval of 15m.

Navigation & echo sounder data will be logged continuously and fixes will be run

every 5m. The bathymetric survey will be run in one pass.

Topographic survey line will be run overlap 10m with bathymetric survey and

ensured all working area for sheet pile has inside survey area.

RTK DGPS Verification

The RTK DGPS system onboard the vessel was verified according to the

Surveys standard operating procedure. Known Point will be used for

verification purpose shall be approved by TEPI.

Heading sensor correction and alignment verification

The misalignment of the heading sensors onboard the vessel was

corrected and verified according to the surveys standard operating

procedure.

All calibrations, checks and system verifications shall be carried out in

accordance to manufacturer’s specifications and requirements.

7.2. Data Collection

All surveys will be undertaken from the survey vessel assigned.

The RTK DGPS positioning will be checked or verified at the known point at the

mobilization port or on location.

All navigation will be achieved and logged using a Hydro Pro 2.4 survey navigation

package. Required survey lines will be input to this system and displayed for the.

Data acquisition, Geodetic Parameters, and other input to the system will be

checked at mobilization individually by both the Party Chief and the surveyors.

Bathymetric survey data will be carried out using a single beam Odom MKII Echo

Sounder dual frequency. The transducers will be mounted on an over-the-side pole.

Soundings output data will be recorded on the Hydro Pro 2.4 Navigation system.

During the running line and recording data acquisition phases and if the weather and

survey area conditions permitted, the following systems are run in simultaneous

(single pass) mode over the proposed survey lines as specified above.

The echo sounder data will be logged in digital formats with Hydro Pro 2.4

navigation. Details of the data acquisition will be recorded in the navigation line log.

Fixes will be taken every 5m interval.

Echo sounder digital data will be recorded in the TXT format and annotated with

position, headings, depth and fix marks.

The accuracy of the sounding position will be of the order of under 0.2m within the

designated areas.

Figure 2: Transducer bracket with side mounted

The survey will be carried out along the designed survey lines centered at the sheet

pile and protection pile location to mapping the seabed of area.

Bathymetric data acquisition will be reduced to the Chart Datum based on the tide

gauge / tide Pole readings provided during survey. The tide gauge height will be tied

to the nearest vertical Reference point to be able to compute the Chart Datum.

BM for vertical elevation reference using company to compute the height of the tide

gauge relatively to the nearest reference point at location survey.

The reference point to be used will be verified or validated by the company prior to

the commencement of work.

Positioning and Navigation System

Positioning and navigation were provided by the RTK DGPS system. The RTK

DGPS positioning will be checked or verified at the known prior to the mobilization.

The vessel will be run with a ‘run-in’ approach distance as far as possible, prior to

the start of main line, to get the vessel on track.

All navigation were achieved and logged using a Hydro Pro 2.4 survey navigation

package. Required survey lines were entered to this system Survey data, Geodetic

Parameters, and other input to the system were checked at mobilization individually

by both the Party Chief and the surveyors.

Speed was limited to 3 knots or lowest for running line

Echo sounder data output

Bathymetric data was carried out using a single beam Odom MKII Echo Sounder

dual frequency. The transducer was mounted on an over-the-side pole.

Soundings were recorded on the Hydro Pro 2.4 Navigation system. Fixing were sent

to the echo sounder at the interval of 5mtr, the depth and position recorded by

hydroPro 2.4 software every second.

Bar check was used to verify, calibrate echo sounder data.

Tide corrections

All depths were reduced to reading tide pole water surface.
