    Audio Capabilities

Audio Feature The DE C 3000 Model 300 Series AXP syst em feat ures telephone-quality audio input and output capabilities, including a built-inspeaker.

You can attach a microphone, headphone, handset, headset,or externa lly-pow ered spea kers to th e audio port. Norma lly,the RS232 audio port is used in asynchronous mode. However, support for X.25 synchronous communica tions is a va ilable, but is

    operating-system-dependent.

The port pinouts for the audio jack on the back of the systemunit are provided in Appendix C. Chapter 4 describes ISDN teststhat you can issue from console mode: for example, to repeat, record and playback audio messages.

    DECsoundApplication

The DECsound application, shipped with your system as partof th e D E Cw in d ows Moti f for Ope n VMS AX P sof twa re , is a neasy-to-use software application that lets you play back recordedmessages, record audio messages, mail recorded messages, andinclude recorded messages in compound documents.
