Dear Parents/Guardians,
Year 12 Farewell
Wednesday was the final day for Year 12 students to attend official classes. The latter part of the week and next week begins
their period of ‘swot vac’ followed by their first exam, the English exam, next Wednesday 26 th October.
The Year 12 students attended a breakfast on the Wednesday morning catered for by Helen Marshall and her Hospitality team.
All looked remarkably well considering many would have been up till the early hours of the morning and all of them were grate-
ful for the five star breakfast put on by the Hospitality students. This was followed by normal timetabled classes and a clean-up
of their lockers and common room.
I wish every student the best of luck with the completion of their exams and encourage them to seek assistance and advice from
their teachers during the ‘swot vac’ period and between exams if needed. I look forward to seeing them and their families at the
graduation dinner.
SunSmart Term 4
Parents and students are reminded that our College is a SunSmart school. Each year in Terms 1 and 4 our SunSmart policy re-
quires students to wear a broad-brimmed hat whenever they are out in the sun including sport or PE classes, and including recess
and lunch breaks. Parents are asked to assist us by ensuring students attend school during Term 4 with an appropriate broad-
brimmed hat.
One to One Computer Program at Corryong College in 2017
Corryong College has a policy to place a netbook in the hands of every Corryong College student in Years 5 to 12. The College
has identified the Dell Latitude 3160 netbook as the devise that best suits our teaching and learning needs and it also comes at a
very competitive price. This netbook weighs in at about 1.5 kg and comes fully loaded with Windows 10 Pro. It has a 4GB
memory and a 500GB hard drive and comes with a 3 year onsite warranty; this is a fantastic offer as normally these devices are
sold with a one year return to base warranty if bought over the counter at any other retailer and software is usually an extra cost
as well.
In addition to the hardware, the Department of Education and Training in partnership with Corryong College will provide stu-
dents and families with support to enable our students the opportunity to enter a new world of curriculum possibilities, allowing
engagement and involvement in their learning. Specifically this will include; on-site technical support, free wireless internet at
the College and all devices and batteries are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. The warranty covers manufacturer’s defects
and normal use of the device (It does not cover negligence, abuse or malicious damage).
All of the above will be provided to families through a lease system through the College at a cost of around $650.00 or $600.00
if a short lease is selected. Enquiries for 2016 can be made through Janette Rixon at the senior campus office.
Enrolments for 2017
The College is well under way in making plans for the curriculum it will be offering in 2017.The gathering of accurate enrolment
information is vital to the planning of classes, timetables and allotments at a school. Please ensure you inform the school sooner,
rather than later about your plans for next year if you are leaving the town or you intend to enrol a child at the College.
This is particularly important in a couple of year levels where numbers are approaching the maximum for either one class or two
classes. In such situations schools may not be able to accommodate late enrolments as this requires the splitting of classes and
the corresponding allocation of further teachers and adjustments to the timetable. The whole process of advertising, interviewing
and appointing a new teaching employee takes the best part of four weeks and cannot be expedited due to strict DET merit and
equity procedures.
I would hate to have to turn a family away, even temporarily, because the school is unable to accommodate the enrolment of a
new student.
Corryong College is seeking enrolment information for ALL year levels for 2017 NOW!
School Levies and Charges
Term 4 has just begun. Hence it is important that outstanding school levies and charges are settled as soon as possible.
School levies and charges for students undertaking programs at the College including instrumental music were distributed to
families via the post towards the end of Term 1. Payment of school levies and charges is a significant component of meeting a
child’s education. We ask parents to make arrangements, as soon as possible, for payment at the College Office.
College Council sets fees and charges in order to provide the quality of facilities and programs enjoyed by our students. Parents’
cooperation is appreciated.
Thank you to all those parents that have already made payments. If you would like to make progressive payments, please contact
the College Office to make arrangements.

A very big thank you to all involved in making our Open Garden weekend such a success. It was truly wonderful to see so many people
enjoying Kaye & David Laverty’s labour of love on such a glorious weekend. Kaye & David kindly offered us the use of their garden for
a fundraising event which saw our students showcase some of their many talents with a display of metal sculptures, band performances
and a stall of produce from the SAKG.
Together we raised close to $3,000 over the weekend, which was made possible by the amazing effort of the Laverty’s and their extended
family. Many visitors travelled from Albury/Wodonga, with others travelling from as far away as Melbourne and Tumut.
The younger children were entertained with a scarecrow competition and a treasure hunt.
The results of the competitions are below;
The Paull & Scollard Scarecrow Competition: Lila Mason, 1st; Jessica Martin, 2nd, Jo Mason, 3rd, and encouragement awards were
given to Patrick Mason, Ned Stanton, Ruby Jean and Charlotte Klippel, Mac Brindley, Thailia Whitehead, Belinda Chamberlain, Tyler
Pryse, Abi Davis and Jack Laverty.
Treasure Hunt: Ned Stanton, 1st, Mac Brindley 2nd, Matilda Stanton 3rd, Maddie McKimmie 4th, Ruby McCourt 5th, Grace McCourt 6th,
Poppy Bond 7th and Harrison Nicholas 8th.
The lucky garden gate prize went to Martin Dorman 1st who received vouchers valued at $50 from Bunnings and Peards Albury, seedlings
and pot and 2nd was Grace Middleton who won hair care products and a style voucher from Lisa Greenhill and a hair dryer from Harvey
Norman.
Guess the number of lolly competitions: Lance Noonan won the $100 Stihl voucher from Roger C. Brown, while Brian Spurgeon won
the gardening pack and the gluten-free lolly jars were won by Ollie Ross.
Parents Club would like to thank the Laverty’s for their boundless energy and perseverance with hosting this event.
Also to all our helpers on the gate, in the kitchen and with baking for the event.
We look forward to continuing and expanding this event into the future and hope to engage more people to come
along and enjoy a truly spectacular garden and surrounds.
