The house pay condolences to the all those who lost their lives in the pandemic before the start of the meeting.

ITEM NO. 2021(2)/1 : REPORT OF THE PRINCIPAL The Chairman welcome all the members in the staff council. He informed the house that

the confirmed minutes of the last staff council held on January 05, 2021 have been circulated electronically via email dated January 19, 2021. All the concerned members gave their consent to have received the same and are now available on the college website. The principal informed the house about the following in his initial remarks.

(i) With a great grief and sorrow, all were informed that the college has lost wife of one of our young faculty member because of COVID only. The college tried but did not succeed.

(ii) Various staff members got infected and presently all have recovered partially or fully with the COVID-19. Six of our student also lost their respective Mother/ Father in this pandemic. The GB has waived off the fees of such students which will be borne from the students’ fund of the college. The college also pay Homage to some DHE officials and its Bank’s staff members who lost their lives in this pandemic. The Principal, on behalf of all the members, staff and students pay sincere condolences to their respective families.

(iii) The college has taken various COVID care management steps like sanitization of the campus, Thermal scanning of visitors, making available of masks to staff etc.

(iv) The college has also received a donation in the form of an Oxygen Concentrator from SEWA International and Covidcare4u coordinated by Mr. Kavinder, faculty previously associated with the College in the Department of Physics.

(v) Hon’ble VC Prof. P.C. Joshi and Director UDSC Prof. Suman Kundu visited the college on February 1, 2021 and met all the faculty and staff members. They appreciated the college performance in various aspects.

(vi) Famous TV actor and producer Mr. Vivek Vaswani also visited the college Dated February 13 2021 to explore the possibilities of collaboration like internship for the students interested in drama and acting in the Pearl Academy.

(vii) The college has successfully executed due promotions of the Stage I (9 cases for AL 10 to 11), Stage II (20 cases for AL 11 to 12) and Stage III (14 cases for AL 12 to 13A i.e. Associate Professor) has been completed.

(viii) Our college has made a history when Prof. Anil K Bali became the first ever Professor in the colleges of the University of Delhi. The college has promoted 6 Associate Professors (AL-13A) to Professor (AL 14) so far. Congratulations to Prof. Anil Bali, Prof. Anand Bharadvaja, Prof. N.S. Abbas, Prof. Avneesh Mittal, Prof. Sidhharth Sirohi, and Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava.

(ix) In addition we have also successfully carried Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) of 5 non-teaching staff members for financial upgradation.

(x) The Principal sincerely pay special thanks to the Chairperson GB, on behalf of all colleagues, for extending the cooperation in carrying out task which was pending since more than 12 years. He expressed his gratitude towards all the GB members, University teachers and administration for the same. He also thanked to Vice Principal, college SO Admin for the extended support and managing things. Once again he congratulated to all promoted colleagues.

(xi) Our former Principal Dr. G. R. Chopra has been facilitated under the category of special appreciation award for the services to the University/ academic achievements in the centenary year of the University of Delhi on the occasion of its founder’s day celebration.

(xii) The existing term of the GB has been extended for 3 months beyond 13th June 2021. (xiii) The GB has approved the budget proposal submitted for the FY 2021-22. (xiv) Our new University Representatives in the GB are Prof. Subho Mazumdar and Prof.

Manoj Kr. Singh. Our teacher’s representative in GB will be Dr. Inderbir Kaur and Dr. Shalini Sehgal.

(xv) As communicated via notice BCAS/11(2)/2021/1098 Dated March 17, 2021 Dr. Meetu Luthra will be a member in the IQAC. Also Dr. Anita Sondhi and Dr. Purnima Anand will be a member of the NAAC core committee. Prof. Sidhharth Sirohi is NAAC Core committee co-coordinator.

(xvi) As per IQAC constitution, Dr. Inderbir Kaur will be a member in IQAC with immediate effect as per notification dated July 19, 2021. Dr. Meetu Luthra will remain member IQAC. The term of the IQAC will be upto July 31, 2022 or till the term of the respective member whichever is later.

(xvii) The appointment of various Teacher in Charges for the year 2021-22 has already been notified via BCAS/17(3)/TIC/2020-21/02 Dated April 1, 2021.

(xviii) Dr. Partha S Pal has resumed his duties after availing study leaves. (xix) The college has completed “Assignment Based Examination” for the practical

evaluation for IV-VI Semester. The principal also appreciated the overall coordination and efficiency of the examination team of the college lead by Nodal Officer Mr. Bhavya Deep appointed for the term 2020-21. The Open Book Examination (OBE) went smoothly and successfully in the college.

(xx) The college has obtained 60th rank in the category of Best Science Colleges under India Today ranking this time. The college has also participated in the NIRF and DU QS World ranking. Now we are going for the NAAC accreditation Cycle II next year. AQAR of all previous years have been uploaded.

(xxii) A committee constituted by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Delhi, visited the college on June 4 2021 for exploring the possibility to start the B.Sc. (Physical Education, Health Education and Sports) at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences.

(xxiii) The college has also applied for the DBT Star status for all the remaining departments viz; Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Polymer Science. That will bring all the science department under the scheme with the team as follows:-

(xxv) The college is planning to run online short term courses with No Profit- No Loss basis or without any financial liability on the college, as it will be beneficial for NAAC and other accreditation. Presently one course on Environmental Friendly Teaching Learning Practices is already completed under the team of Prof. Avneesh Mittal. Two courses are presently running on Leadership and Management and other one on Fitness Management both under Prof. Sidhharth Sirohi and his respective teams. Registration is undergoing in one such course on Innovative Packaging and Sustainability coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi Garg and Dr. Susmita Sadu in collaboration with

Foundation for Innovative Packaging and Sustainability (FIPS), Mumbai. He also requested to conduct one Short term course from each department which will help the college in the NAAC grading.

(xxvi) The college has also collaborated with Govt College Bomdila (Affiliated to Rajiv Gandi University), Arunachal Pradesh and also Indira Gandhi Government College Tezu, District Lohit (Affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh) under the Vidya Vistar Scheme (V2S). Under this scheme, the faculties of both the colleges will share their academic expertise with students of each other’s college through online/offline mode. The faculty members of both the Colleges may visit each other’s college and may use Laboratories, Library etc. facilities for research work on mutual agreed programme/ scheduled without the disturbing regular schedule of the students of their colleges. Dr. Vandana Batra, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Partha S Pal and Ms. Ritu Sareen are coordinating for the modalities of the scheme.

(xxvii) The college has completed stock verification and transparency audit for 2020-21. (xxviii) The Academic Audit and Admin. Audit are also under process. (xxix) The ELFA audit has been carried out upto the FY 2019-20. A meeting was held on

February 2, 2021 and minutes were circulated. All are advised to follow the same. (xxx) Department of Polymer Science is in process of collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and

IISc Bangalore for research scholars pursuing PhD degree under the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship, December 2020. One scholar each from these institute will take teaching assignment at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences under this scheme.

(xxxi) The college will be celebrating 25yrs of its existence. All the Departments/ Clubs/ Committees should organize events aiming to spread positive image of the college. It may be like a documentary about academic feedback from students, debate, cultural activities, Academic webinar series, Alumni interaction programs, painting, essay competitions, science exhibition etc. The students should be briefed about the History of the college.

(xxxii) The faculty members should also brief the students about National Educational Policy 2020 and India’s contribution in the growth of science.
