    An ability to listen to the market with a view to devel-oping, expanding or even radically transforming prod-uct offerings is crucial to the growth and evolution of any company. It underpins the innovation that our readers pursue in their day-to-day work at their companies, of-ten allowing them to suc-cessfully anticipate needs that customers have not yet expressed. It is also the major focus of this magazine, which for the last 21 years has been fol-lowing and analysing the evolution of individual com-panies and of the ceramic industry as a whole, both in Italy and worldwide, wit-nessing the emergence of new players, new markets, revolutionary new technolo-gies and new products, as well as fresh challenges and new strategies for tackling them. We have worked with pas-sion and enthusiasm, adapt-ing to changes - most tangi-bly changes in technology - and to the new communi-cation needs of companies and information require-ments of our readers. It is a great source of pride for us to see that CeramicWorld-Web.it, the first daily web magazine launched to complement our printed bi-monthly magazine, is now the most popular on-line in-formation tool amongst in-ternational ceramic profes-sionals. In the New Year we will renew our efforts in pur-suing these projects through

    a combination of profession-alism, knowledge and tech-nological opportunities. 2012 will also be a year of evolu-tion for Ceramic World Re-view and for our publishing house, as highlighted by the new T-e communication trademark which will ac-company all our future initia-tives and the introduction of a much broader range of tools and services. In Janu-ary we will be launching the new Farsi language maga-zine Ceramic World Review Persian, produced in coop-eration with the Iranian firm Arta Group, which will meet the needs of the Iranian ce-ramic industry to gain easier access to our high-quality in-formation. We are also intro-ducing major new features in the field of web marketing, from web 2.0 to the new op-portunities offered by the so-cial media and through to more complex forms of di-rect email marketing and apps for tablets (in the first week following its launch, more than 400 readers downloaded the CWR app for iPad and Android!). For this purpose, we have creat-ed a full-scale communica-tion factory to support com-panies in their daily activities with integrated communica-tion services and dedicated press offices. Leaving you for now to read this issue with the invitation to follow us on iPad and the web, we wish you all the best for a very suc-cessful New Year.

Il 2012 sar un anno di evoluzione quindi anche per Ceramic World Review e per la nostra casa editrice, sottoli-neata dal nuovo marchio T-e communication, che accom-pagner in futuro tutte le no-stre iniziative e il varo di una ben pi ampia offerta di stru-menti e servizi. Inauguriamo a gennaio la nuova versione in lingua farsi di Ceramic World Review Persian, realiz-zata in collaborazione con la iraniana Arta Group, che ri-sponde alla richiesta dellin-dustria ceramica iraniana di accedere con pi facilit alla nostra informazione di quali-t. Novit importanti anche sul fronte del web marketing, dal web 2.0 alle nuove oppor-tunit offerte dai social me-dia, fino alle forme pi com-plesse di Direct email marke-ting e alle app per tablet (nel-la sola prima settimana di lan-cio, oltre 400 lettori hanno scaricato lapp di CWR su iPad e Android!). Tutto que-sto allinterno di una commu-nication factory che suppor-ter lattivit quotidiana delle aziende con servizi di comu-nicazione integrata e uffici stampa dedicati.     Creativity, colours and raw materials are three pillars of ceramic production. With this in mind, Tecnargilla, the worlds leading exhibition of supplies to the ceramic indus-try to be held in Rimini from 24 to 28 September 2012, will be hosting the sixth Kromatech, the section devoted to com-panies operating in the field of ceramic aesthetics. The leading international players in the sector have al-ready confirmed that they will be taking part in Kromat-ech 2012, well aware of the popularity of this theme sec-tion amongst international ceramic industry profession-als. In a survey conducted by an independent research in-stitute amongst visitors to the 2010 event, 75% of tile pro-ducers gave a positive over-all assessment of Kromatech. In particular, 86% of interview-

    ees viewed product offerings positively, 81% considered the international range of exhibi-tors to be satisfactory, and 90% judged the presence of sector leaders as exhaustive.Tecnargilla is a key appoint-ment for everyone working in the ceramic industry. The 2010 show attracted record at-tendance by high-level pro-fessionals (31,599 visitors, 0.5% up on 2008) and saw the par-ticipation of 450 exhibitors in a gross floor space of 70,000 sq.m. There were 14,603 foreign visi-tors, 18.6% up on 2008, the largest number out of all ce-ramic sector exhibitions.

The indus-try is expected to report a 20% year-on-year turnover increase to 1,700 million euro, a value close to pre-crisis levels. This growth has been driven by ex-ports, which account for more than 85% of total turnover, whereas the domestic market has continued to show an incon-sistent performance. However, the slowdown in growth in the last quarter of 2011 causes con-cern to business leaders. Given the fall in orders and the general downturn of the world econo-my, our forecasts for next year are very cautious, commented Acimac Chairman Pietro Cas-sani. Even the worlds largest manufacturing countries, first and foremost China, are seeing their growth rates slow. This natu-rally causes some concern in a

    sector like ours that is strongly de-pendent on exports. Cassani also expressed his apprehension about the continued stalemate sur-rounding the former Italian Trade Commission ICE and the conse-quent cutback in promotional ac-tivities for 2012, which are now en-tirely self-financed by the companies themselves.     eCzaCibasi start up in russia eczacibasi apre in russiaThe new Russian factory owned by the Turkish group Eczacbas Building Products Division, one of the world lead-ers in the tile and bathroom fur-nishing sector, was opened at a ceremony held on 7 October and is now fully operational. The Group already has a man-ufacturing presence in Germa-ny with the brands VitrA, Vil-leroy & Boch and Engers Keramik. At the opening cere-mony, the groups chairman Blent Eczacbas welcomed key representatives of the lo-cal institutions as well as the Turkish ambassador to Russia. Located in the city of Serpuk-hov, 100 km south of Moscow, the new production facility in-volved an investment of 27 mil-lion euro and extends over a total works area of 25,000 square metres. The factory will employ around 200 people and will be capable of pro-ducing 3.2 million sq.m/year of ceramic tiles, swimming pool

    tiles and accessories, and por-celain tiles for the residential and contract sectors. The Ser-pukhov facility will produce around 4,000 different items un-der the VitrA, Villeroy & Boch and other brand names owned by the group. With this start-up, Eczacbas is aiming to establish itself in Russia and secure a share of the countrys 100 billion euro building market. To achieve this goal, the group intends not only to invest in production but also to strengthen its distribution net-work.     Paradyz, a leading Polish ce-ramic company with an annu-al output of around 30 million sq.m, has once again chosen LB technology for its new in-vestments in porcelain tile pro-duction. An agreement was signed in September for the supply of a new Easy-Color line and a Croma 245 feeding sys-tem for a Sacmi press which will allow for a further increase in output of products of outstand-ing aesthetic quality. The col-laboration between Paradyz and LB dates from 2004 when the first Easy-Color powder col-ouring line was installed in To-maszow Mazowieski plant no. 1. Over the years, the partner-ship between the two compa-

    nies has strengthened and ex-tended to the other facilities, including that of Wielka Wola where 2 new powder colouring lines were installed in 2010, bring-ing the total number of Easy-Color lines to 7. For years the Pol-ish company has been using Croma feeders for the produc-tion of high-end full-bodied por-celain tile of vari-ous sizes with spray-dried and micronised pow-ders.

    Nuova Era, a System Group member company based in Ca-salgrande (Reggio Emilia), has won major orders to supply four Robofloor machines to the ce-ramic manufacturer Aras Tile in Iran and two Robofloor Buffer machines to the Egyptian group Horizon. The installation at Aras Tile has revolutionised the pro-duction department. The ma-chines operate with fired materi-al and provide an extremely effective solution to the need to store products on days when the sorting department is not operat-ing. Layers of tiles are moved by means of a suction table, with the aid of two electric fans to create the vacuum. In the load-ing stage, the layer of tiles is picked up by the roller conveyor and deposited on the pallet for unloading. The aim is to separate the production cycle between the kilns and sorting lines with a

    daily output of 15,000 sq.m. of sin-gle fired floor and wall tiles (sizes 30x30 cm to 60x60 cm). The supply package includes the system for transport and interconnection be-tween machines. In the factory operated by the Egyptian compa-ny Horizon, the Robofloor Buffer units were installed at the kiln exit with a pallet loading/unloading function. The system stores the tiles (loading) when the sorting line stops and feeds them to the sort-ing line (unloading) when it starts up again. The two kilns with which the Robofloor units are connected have a high level of productivity: 12,000 sq.m/day of monoporosa floor tiles in sizes from 25x35 cm to 40x40 cm and 12,000 sq.m/day of monop-orosa wall tiles in sizes from 25x35 cm to 40x60 cm.

Si tratta, in particolare, di mo-vimentare piani di piastrelle me-diante un piano aspirato, coadiuvato da due elettroventi-latori che creano leffetto vuoto.

    Il piano, in fase di carico, preleva-to dalla rulliera e depositato sul pianale per poi essere scaricato. Lo scopo sepa-

    rare il ciclo produttivo tra i forni e le linee di scelta che registrano una produzione di 15.000 mq giornalieri di prodotti in mono-cottura per pavimento e rivesti-mento (formati 30x30 cm fino a 60x60 cm). Nella fornitura com-preso il sistema di trasporto e collegamento tra i macchinari. Nello stabilimento dellegiziana Horizon, invece, i Robofloor Buf-fer sono stati inseriti in uscita for-no con funzione di carico/scarico pianali. Il sistema provvede a stoccare le piastrelle (carico) quando la scelta si arresta e ad alimentarla (scarico) con le stesse quando questa riparte. I due for-ni a cui sono collegati i Robofloor hanno alta produttivit: 12.000 mq/giorno di monoporosa da pa-vimento per formati da 25x35 cm fino a 40x40 cm e 12 000 mq/gior-no per monoporosa da rivesti-mento con formati da 25x35 cm al 40x60 cm.
