March 31, 2010 - 2:20pm cbse Schoolspedia newsletterStudents suffering from diseases like dyslexia are given four concessions in exams. First They are to be given an extra one hour to complete the papers. Second - They will be seated on ground floor for their comfort. Third They will be allowed to take a scribe who will write papers for them. But the scribe should be studying in a class less than the examinees. Fourth They can use calculators while giving Mathematics paper. These four concessions were granted under the National Policy 2006. The decision was taken after a meeting between experts of such physical and mental conditions and the members of the secondary board. Although, the Supreme Court has ruled against calculator concession, CBSE feels that it should be given to dyslexic students. Or, they will score very poorly in Mathematics.ICSE board also allows concession of calculators to dyslexic students in Mathematics papers of class X & XII. But CBSE will follow Supreme Courts order.
