Medication at SchoolPlease note that students are not permitted to carry their own medications at school; this includes panadol and other over the counter medications. We are only able to administer prescribed medication and can only do so when the correct form is completed at the school office. Please do not send any over the counter medications to school requesting that the staff administer these. Forms requesting administration of prescribed medications are available at the office.

CanteenPlease be aware that the number of parents volunteering to work in our canteen has declined markedly over the last couple of years. It is really important that parents and caregivers read the Bulletin carefully each fortnight and mark down any changes. Yesterday, because of a lack of volunteers, there was no canteen at school yet a large number of students still brought in lunch and recess orders. This closure had been advertised in the previous Bulletin as well as on the school’s website calendar. Unfortunately, we were unable to fill these exactly as requested because of a lack of stock as well as canteen workers. A big thank you to Mrs Young who spent a large portion of her already busy day, sourcing and heating food for those students. We ask that everyone reads the Bulletin carefully each fortnight as it contains a large amount of essential information about school events.

Canteen will resume for term 3 on Monday 24 July. Thank you.

Barrington Netball Team Bow Out in the 3rd RoundOn Tuesday 21 June, the Barrington School netball team travelled to the Gloucester courts to play Shoal Bay in the 3rd round of the PSSA Knockout Competition. This is the first time Barrington has progressed past the first round in netball. Unfortunately, Shoal Bay proved to be very strong in their netball skills and defeated Barrington 26-11. The girls fought to the end but to no avail. When the team was formed, there were only 3 girls that played Saturday netball and the remaining 6 girls had to be taught everything from positions to court movement, feet to obstruction. Over the course of the 3 games, all the girls showed tremendous improvement in their skill level and some have gone on to join town netball. In the 1st round Barrington defeated Gloucester 17-16 and in the 2nd round Barrington defeated Pacific Palms 11-8. Sally Boughey, the girl’s coach was very proud of them and their wonderful sportsmanship. Sally put in a huge amount of time coaching and encouraging the team. A big thank you to Betty Pearson who umpired the 3 matches as well as having the court ready for play. Also to Sally Maslen who umpired 2 of the rounds.

Sydney Excursion - Yrs 3-629 students have indicated that they will be attending this excursion which will take place on Monday, September 4 – Wednesday September 6. There are a large number of students who are not up to date with the repayment schedule however and we ask that this please be rectified because all of the activities and accommodation have already been booked and paid for. If you would like some assistance in this regard, please contact the school for a confidential interview.

Happy HolidaysThis week’s Bulletin is the last one for Term 2. School resumes for students on Tuesday 18 July. I will be on leave for the majority of Term 3. Mrs Faull will be taking on my Principal responsibilities. Her office day will be on a Monday. Mrs Groves will be taking over my teaching responsibilities on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays while Mr Keen will continue to teach the students every Friday.

Uniform OrdersPlease find attached the latest uniform order form and price list. Please note orders with money are to be left at the school office and the uniform coordinator will fill the orders on a 2 weekly basis on a Wednesday afternoon on assembly week. Our first assembly in Term 3 will be Week 3, Tuesday 1 August 2017. Please note that the uniforms are bought and sold by the school’s P&C. Orders need to be handled and sold by them. It will no longer be possible to call into the school and have these orders filled immediately.

New England Drama Camp - 2017 An invitation for students to attend the New England Drama Camp is currently being offered to Year 6 students. The Camp will be held at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre, Gunnedah, from 14-18 August 2017. Cost is $350. Small Schools Soccer KnockoutYesterday, the Barrington soccer team along with parents, grandparents and the coach Mr Hughes and Mrs Hughes travelled to King Park, Raymond Terrace for a game against Bobs Farm School. This was our first game and the students were nervous. 12 seconds after kick off Justin put in a great goal, completely taking Bobs Farm by surprise. But they recovered and played some great defence as well as attack. Barrington kept pushing their line but the goals didn’t come. Hayden, Ella, Michael, Isoa, Kaity and Luke showed great courage in their positions getting the ball out of some dangerous situations. Zane saved many goals and played very well in his role as keeper. The forwards never stopped running-Lucas, Natalie, Toreen, Hamish, Adelaide, Justin and Dean were exhausted after running the length of the field time and time again. Justin scored his second goal early in the second half and with 12 secs to go Dean set up a great goal and Lucas booted it home giving Barrington the game 3-0. Thanks again to all the parent drivers and especially the coach Mr Hughes.

YEAR 6 FundraiserOn Thursday 29 June, Year 6 are holding a fundraiser between recess and lunch. The day is out of uniform and there will be a movie session with popcorn and a popper. The cost is $2 per child. Please support Year 6 on the day.
