Talent is present in each and every one of us but
it takes the opportunities to bring them, out and
develop them. Many people misunderstand and
don’t fully realise the real essence of talent;
students in particular.
By taking up co-curricular activities students can
enhance their overall development. The school is
the perfect place to find such activities. The
school gives various opportunities to showcase
the various hidden talents an individual
possesses.
But talents need to be nurtured carefully and
practised overtime. To develop our talents, we
should be able to recognise the opportunities we
are presented with and work with them.
“Opportunity does not knock; it presents itself
when you beat down the door.”

It always seems impossible till

“Perseverance is stubbornness with a purpose” - Josh Shipp
King Bruce of Scotland was inspired by a spider whilst taking refuge in a cave after being defeated. The spider made several attempts to reach its web on the roof of the cave before it finally succeeded. King Bruce pondered on his own plight and compared it to the indomitable, stubborn streak of the tiny insect. Drawing inspiration from the spider, bolstered with optimism and fortified self-confidence he mobilised an army, fought valiantly and triumphed.
Perseverance has a bitter sweet taste. A taste that struggles in the beginning but is overcome in the end by victory. The greater the hindrance or obstacle the greater the glory of overcoming it. When armed with perseverance, patience and trust in God, no obstacle can thwart success and stand between you and victory.

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS & ETHNIC DAY
Life is not about finding yourself, it's
about creating yourself. Who do you want
to be? - George Bernard Shaw
When celebrations are around
the corner, the heart, the soul
and the mind rejoice in
merriment and usher in
moments of joy. The month of
October is when we
commemorate the victory of
good over evil, light over
darkness and blend in with the
colours and lights of Diwali. The
festival was celebrated in our
school with great enthusiasm by
the students and the teachers as
the school was decked up in
bright shades .There was also an
extravaganza of programs put up
by the students which were a
delight to the senses. We had an
auspicious beginning by seeking
the blessings of the almighty by
an invocation song by the
students.A captivating classical
dance performance by our
students which was indeed a
feast for the eyes. An excellent
display of humour and skill was
put up in an act of ventriloquism
by Pulkit Raina of grade 9E.There
were also many competitions
such as Rangoli making among
the students which added to the
festivities. The Diwali
celebrations indeed brought in
the light of merriment and
togetherness into our lives.
Our school celebrated the ’Ethnic day’ in October to
rejoice in the diversity of the cultures of our country
which gives us a unique identity. Students dressed up
in traditional outfits and shared the culinary
delicacies and delights of the various states and
ecstasized in each other’s heritage. Raghav Joshi of
class 11 presented a regional folk song from
Uttarakhand which indeed enthralled us. The ’Ethnic
Day’ celebrations truly instilled in us the feeling of
unity in diversity.

Karnataka Rajyotsava is celebrated on
1 November of every year. This was
the day in 1956 when all the Kannada
language-speaking regions of South
India were merged to form the state
of Karnataka. Today, it is celebrated
by people of different cultures who
call the splendid state of Karnataka
their home.
In our school, the Kannada Rajyotsava
was celebrated with great enthusiasm
and vigor. The atmosphere was
festive as the red and yellow flag
unfurled filling our hearts with pride
and glory. The morning assembly was
conducted very beautifully in
Kannada. The patriotic song,
‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli
Huttabeku’ was sung by our students
which left the audience spellbound.
Then the attention of the audience
was captured by the enthusiastic
dancers who swayed to the fusion of
‘Karunade’ and ‘Yello jinugiruva’. This
performance enthralled the viewers.
Next was the stunning fancy dress
show in which the students of NCFE
dressed up as notable personalities
who are known worldwide for their
contributions in various fields. Roles
of the valiant Kittur Rani Chennamma,
her courageous warrior chief Sangolli
Rayanna, Green Crusader
Saalumarada Thimakka, poet and
saint Akka Mahadevi, former Indian
Cricket Captain Rahul Dravid,
philosopher,statesman and poet
Basavanna, athlete Ashwini
Nachappa, and Bharat Ratna Dr. M
Visvesvaraya were depicted
wonderfully and with ease by the
primary students which left us
speechless. This also made us
remember the glorious land of
Karnataka with pride as we were a
part of the land which had given birth
to such great people.
The grand celebration finally came to an
end but the memories would surely
linger in our mind for a long time.

“Children are not things to be moulded,
but people to be unfolded”. – Jess Lair
Children's day is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the school calendar. In India children's day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of our first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He used to love children, thus on every November 14th we celebrate children's day. In NCFE, this day was marked by commendable celebrations. The programme initiated with a prayer song led by Mrs. Susan Barrid, Principal, NCFE. The general assembly which includes the news of the day was conducted by teachers. The teachers were introduced as the students of ‘Indian Institute of Mass Communication’ which was then followed by a beautiful rendition sung by the teachers of NCFE. Students were enthralled to see their teachers perform for them. A comedy show had the children rolling in the aisles. Through the hilarious enactment, the teachers conveyed an important message “Eat healthy and stay healthy “. The show was also a caution for children regarding phony people who live around us. A skit presenting the life of a student starting from primary school and then middle school finally ending at the high school had moved many hearts. The play also taught the importance of hard work and self-discipline in a student’s life. It also gave the message that every teacher knows how children are as they were once children. The dance performed by talented teachers to a medley of popular songs left the students spellbound. The final event was a breathtaking and glitzy fashion show. The teachers showcased the traditional dresses of India spreading the important message of love and unity. The fashion show gave way to a thunderous applause which marked the end of the eventful day. NCFE teachers had once again portrayed their love for children and their passion for teaching.

Little steps, big achievements
Choosing and charting the course of one's
career is of increasing importance in today's
fast paced and challenging work
environments. Career guidance is an area
that has been seldom dealt with in schools
wherein students are guided towards
making a career choice. However, in the
present scenario of competition and
constantly changing employment options
and requirements it is essential for schools
to support students in High School, guiding
them towards opportunities based on the
skills and strengths of each unique child. It is
with this objective that National Centre For
Excellence organised a Career Guidance
Session for High school parents and students
on 18th November 2017.
To take us through the programme, we were
honoured to have Mr. Suresh Kalyanpur,
who is the Founder and Managing Director
of the Human Resource Centre for Training
& Development Pvt Ltd. HRCas our Chief
Guest for the session. The session
commenced with Mr.Kalyanpur pointing out
the extreme importance of choosing the
right career and identifying the skills and
aptitudes in guiding students through the
right career choices. In his presentation he
spoke extensively about sociometric tests
for identifying the skill sets, areas of interest
and individual aptitudes and abilities which
would be of invaluable help in choosing the
right career. A number of case studies were
also discussed in details. The last hour was
an interactive session where parents and
students sought clarifications on a variety of
topics. Some value based issues also came
up during the session. In the confusing maze
of career options, this session undoubtedly
enlightened both students and parents.

SPORTS DAY
“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” – Ralph Vaull Star
Sports bring new energy in the hearts and minds of every child. The Sports day is marked with great joy and discovering the inner talent of every child in the field of sports.
The most awaited event, the Annual Sports Day was held on 25th November 2017 in the school premises. The school ground donned a festive look with the fantabulous turnout of parents and the pleasant weather complimenting it.
The Chief Guest for the day was the Chief Operating Officer of National Centre For Excellence, Mrs. Sunalini Benjamin.
The Sports flag was hoisted followed by a March Past by all the four houses. Each house was led by its Captain and Vice-captain. They marched with perfection to the band beat. The chief guest took the flag salute. The Annual Sports Meet was thus declared open and the students released balloons in the air which represented the dreams of the entrants to participate and individually reach for the skies in their efforts. The Olympic Torch, which marked the beginning of the event was handed over to Medhansh of Grade IV by the Principal Mrs. Susan Barrid for the Olympic run. The torchbearers for the event included students Medhansh,Manan Jain, Srinidhi, Aadhana and Aarush Laddha, who have made the school
proud by winning various sports championships at the National and International levels. The Sports Captain Tavish took the sports Oath. The Sports Meet saw participation in a great number. All the students from Grades I to V took active participation and not a single child was left out, for which the students and teachers deserved a token of appreciation. The theme of the Annual Sports Day this year was “Cycle of Health.” Students of Grades I to V participated in displays namely, aerobic, zumba and exercise drill which was loved and appreciated by the parents. They rocked the ground in their lovely attires and perfect moves. The hard work of teachers and students for nearly a month has surely left a positive mark in the minds of the audience.
Many showcased their talents and had accolades coming their way and few were owners of broken hearts. But as is said “A trophy carries dust. Memories last forever.” This event sure did leave a bag of memories for them to carry around.
The event ended with the Beating Retreat by the school band. Their performance was mesmerizing. This was followed by the turning in of the sports flag to the Principal until the next sports meet. The sports day concluded with the National Anthem.
“Talent wins games, but team work and
intelligence Wins championships.”

GOODBYE
Playing in the lush fields of grass, always smiling in her wake a doll made out of glass, why did she have to break?
Full of laughter, her tender soul
babbling throughout the day
she was what made me whole
oh, why was she taken away?
I read to her everyday,
but was rewarded with silence
in a state of oblivion her timid body
lay
away from all violence
Stumbling through darkness
grasping for a shred of light,
and finally a crack in her starkness,
she began to fight
She offered me weak smiles,
entwining her cold hands in mine
she tried to hide her painful wiles,
but I wished I could bring back her
shine
A thousand times,
words just died right on her lips
I started hearing dark chimes,
death had reached her tips
I had to part with my angel,
I gazed at her with a trembling sigh
I kissed her as much as I was able,
….and I said goodbye

THE FINAL DRIVE
Entering my tenth and last year in NCFE, I
didn’t expect it to be that different. But, for
someone who doesn’t really bother about
much, the year has been full of memories
and hope, that somehow I could go back in
time, relive memories that at the time
didn’t seem much. This is my tenth year in
this school and I have probably been here
longer than most, but it fills me with
utmost pleasure that NCFE has been the
place of my schooling. I can say without any
hesitation that I would’ve had it no other
way. I’ve seen everything one can see at a
school, from a movie shoot to a “haunted”
dwelling, there’s not much that NCFE
hasn’t seen. I was part of the first Green
Ambassadors, one of the few who won in
the very first election and much, much
more. Now I am standing at the cross roads
of life. It is a weird phase this one, where
the future holds such promise and whence
the past calls on to you with so much force.
Memories always float around but it seems
like this year, the last two months
especially so, have been magnets for fond
memories. An advantage of being in one
place for such a long time is that one meets
all kinds of people and learns all kinds of
new things. One also tends to realize a lot
of stuff, things taken for granted, and
people taken for granted and also how
many people you are thankful for,
everyone from the guy who helped you out
on your first day of school to the ones you
spend your last with and everyone and
everything in between. I’m one of the lucky
few and through this medium, I would like
to thank all of you, for being a part of my
journey and for letting me be a part of
yours. To conclude, I hope you have a
journey as lovely and amazing as mine,
Signing off,
Here Always,

LOSS
Lonely in my room, with no one else but me, only an impending sense of gloom, like a shadow inside of me. “All the world’s a stage”, they say, one plays his part and exits, the world moves on, the play goes on, But the one I love no longer exists.
All that remains is a faint memory, locked away in my mind’s treasury, the world moves on, my head plays its tricks, But the one I love no longer exists.

MAGIC It is there in our finger tips, it is there in our tongue, beneath the lips it is present in everything you see, everything you go through, everything you flee
Don't search for it; for you can't see it, but can only feel it, in a quite and peaceful mind
When an innocent smile, drives anger out a mile, don't you realize , that it is nothing but magic?
When pitiful things come to your life' and you make an innocent person smile, don't you realize, that it is nothing but magic?

If I were
If I were a bird,
I would fly high
Above the world.
If I were a bunny,
I’d hop and hop
And never stop.
If I were a monster,
I’d be a hideous,
Roaring beast.
If I were a monkey,
I would swing on the
branches of trees.
If I were a fish,
I would swim in the sea
With joy and glee.
If I were the sun,
I would be really high,
Above the sky.
But whatever I wish to be,
I’m just happy being me.

My father, my super hero
My father, my super hero
In front of him, the whole world looks zero
He is the one who taught me to talk
He is the one who taught me to walk
He is so loving and caring
But at the same time he is very daring
I never feel insecure
Because there is no pain which he cannot
cure
In the night when I sleep with him I don’t
feel scared
Because I know that I m being cared
Though he is very busy
But for playing with me he is never fussy
When he is around, we have so much fun
We play music, dance and go for long run
My days are always bright even when there
is no sunlight
He teaches me, he preaches me
But he never screeches on me
I am just like my father and he is just like me.
He is always besides me
Be when I m happy or sad
And that makes him a super dad
My father, my super hero
In front of him, the whole world looks zero

Bottom’s up
Today was absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that.
There is something good in every day
Because when you take a close look,
This world is a pretty evil place
Even if,
Some Goodness does shine through once in a
while.
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last
And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be attained
Only if one’s surroundings are good,
It’s not true that good exists
I am sure you can agree that.
The reality
Creates
My attitude
It’s all beyond my control
And you will never in a million years hear me
say
Today was a very good day
Now try reading the poem from the last line

The Author Who Introduced Me to the Fantasy World
Joanne Rowling who writes under the pen names J K Rowling and Robert Galbraith, is a British Novelist and a screenwriter. She is
my favorite writer as she wrote the series of Harry Potter and I have read all the seven books of the series. Her age is 52 and born
in Yate which is in Gloucestershire, England.
Her life was a rags to riches story. When she was young she was poor. Through her hardwork and determination she was able to
change her life and became a multi-millionaire and a best-selling author. Her books have won multiple awards and have become
best-selling book series in history. They have also been a basis for a series of films. I like her as an author because she is able to
bring to life various characters in her book. Characters like Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are loved by all.
Having read all her books I am looking forward for another book from JK Rowling.

The Black Sheep
Life’s a game and the game is on, For we are but players,
Players who are trapped in the matrix of uncertainty, Uncertain about the objective and path,
For without one, useless is the other one.
I however, am not an amateur, For the game feels like a child’s play,
My opponents seem as clockwork toys, For their “random” actions seem as foreseeable
As a puppet’s actions to its puppeteer.
I have been part of the game since time immemorial, The wheel, Turing machines, nuclear reactors
Being the consequence of my existence.
My actions can accelerate civilisation’s growth, Or bring it down with a drowning boat.
For the fate of civilisation rests with the utilisation Of my consequence not the consequence itself.
Da Vinci, Einstein, Turing, Newton are some of the names You’ve called me throughout my journey,
For I’m a philosopher, I’m an artist, I’m a scientist, I’m a poet, I’m a logician, I’m a mathematician,
I’m genius, I’m the black sheep, I’m human, I’m You.
