adopting Sequencing Batch Reactor Technology, in

the project area and sewage sludge of around

10kg/day will be dewatered / dried & used as

organic manure within the site.

4.7 Construction or demolition

wastes Yes

The generation of waste material is inevitable at

different stages of construction process. About 40 -

60kg/m2 of the total construction raw material is

assumed as waste. Waste during construction

activity relates to excessive cement mix or concrete

left after work is over, rejection caused due to

change in design or wrong workmanship etc,

concrete appears in two forms in the waste.

Structural elements of building have reinforced

concrete, while foundations have mass non-

reinforced concrete. These materials are normally

reused as filler material at the same site after

completion of excavation work and for

construction of basement raft and internal road

etc. Excess construction and demolition waste if

any shall be disposed as per Construction and

Demolition Waste Management Rules 2016. Other

miscellaneous material during construction that

arise as waste includes, glass, plastic material,

5. Release of pollutants or any hazardous, toxic or noxious substances to air (Kg/hr)

Sl.

No.

Information/Checklist

confirmation Yes/No

Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates,

wherever possible) with source of information data

5.1

Emissions from combustion

of fossil fuels from

stationary or mobile

sources

Yes

Air emission comprising PM, NOX, unburnt

hydrocarbon and SO2 will be from the operating DG

sets used as the standby power source. Emission of

the above pollutants will be temporary (during power

cuts) and will be further minimized by the use of low

Sulphur High Speed Diesel (HSD) – (Sulphur content

less than 50ppm) or alternatively Compressed

Natural Gas (CNG)

5.2 Emissions from production

processes No Not Applicable

5.3

Emissions from materials

handling including storage

or transport

No Not Applicable

5.4

Emissions from

construction activities

including plant and

equipment

Yes

The potential ambient air quality impacts arising from

the proposed project would occur mainly during

project construction phase. Particulate Matter would

be predominant pollutant generated from

construction activities. The gaseous emissions such as

SO2, NOX and un-burnt hydrocarbons would be

generated from the construction equipment’s and

vehicles.

Appropriate management plan will be designed to

mitigate any incremental rise in pollution level to an

acceptable limit.

Impacts of construction activities on air quality are a

cause for concern mainly in the dry months due to

settling of dust particles. The main sources of

emission during the construction phase are the

movement of equipment’s at site and dust emitted

during the leveling, grading, foundation works and

other construction related activities. The dust

emitted during the above mentioned activities

depend upon the type of soil and the ambient

humidity levels. The impact is likely to be for short

duration and confined locally to the construction site

itself. The composition of dust in this kind of

operation is however mostly coarse particles,

inorganic and non-toxic in nature. These are not

expected to travel long distance before settling.

Page 13: Form 1 for Prior Environmental Clearanceenvironmentclearance.nic.in/.../EC/...BrigadeMixedUseDevelopment.pdf · Railway Station); 12km Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway station

Form 1 Brigade Mixed Use Development

Brigade Enterprises Limited Page 13

Sprinkling of water on temporary pathway’s &

driveways for movement of construction vehicles &

equipment’s in the site area is proposed to reduce

dust during construction.

Exhaust emissions from vehicles and equipment

deployed during the construction phase will also

result in marginal increase in levels of SO2, NOX, PM,

and un-burnt hydrocarbons. It may, therefore, be

deduced that construction activities may cause

changes in the PM levels locally. The impact will

however be reversible, marginal, and temporary in

nature.

The impact of such activities would be temporary and

restricted to the construction phase. The impact will

be confined within the project boundary and is

expected to be negligible outside the project

boundaries. Proper upkeep and maintenance of

vehicles, sprinkling of water on roads at construction

site, providing sufficient vegetation, barricading the

project site using GI Sheets, etc, are some of the

proposed measures that would greatly reduce the

impact on the air quality during the construction

phase of the project.

5.5

Dust or odours from

handling of materials

including construction

materials, sewage and

waste

Yes

Dust emission during construction phase will be

usually noticed and decreases gradually as project

progresses.

Sewage during construction stage will be treated in

septic tank. The municipal waste will be handed over

to local disposal agencies, thereby reducing the

nuisance of odour.

During operation phase, sewage generated shall be

treated in 2 numbers of scientifically designed

Sewage Treatment Plants of 90 KLD & 10KLD capacity

each adopting Sequencing Batch Reactor Technology.

Dust emission will be negligible and no odor problem

of sewage will be anticipated as it is treated in

scientifically designed Sewage Treatment Plants and

equipped with efficient exhaust system.

5.6 Emissions from incineration

of waste No Not Applicable

5.7 Emissions from burning of

waste in open air (e.g. slash No

Not Applicable. Construction debris & materials shall

be segregated according to its characteristics and re-

used to the maximum extent within the site. Only the

Page 14: Form 1 for Prior Environmental Clearanceenvironmentclearance.nic.in/.../EC/...BrigadeMixedUseDevelopment.pdf · Railway Station); 12km Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway station

materials, construction

debris)

recyclable materials are segregated and handed over

to authorized recyclers. The project team shall ensure

that no slash materials, construction debris etc., are

burnt in open air either by the contractors or their

sub vendors.

5.8 Emissions from any other

sources No Not Applicable

6. Generation of Noise and Vibration, and Emissions of Light and Heat:

Sl.

No.

Information/Checklist

confirmation Yes/No

Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates,

wherever possible) with source of information data

with source of information data

6.1

From operation of

equipment e.g. engines,

ventilation plant,

crushers

During the operation phase, noise will be generated

from the DG sets, pump rooms, movement of vehicles

and general noise characteristics of the occupants. The

DG Set room and pumps will be isolated from the

outside environment through proper acoustic

measures, which will be regulate the noise generated

from the rooms. The noise levels outside the room will

be maintained within the stipulated norms as per CPCB,

both during the day and night times.

6.2 From industrial or similar

processes No Not Applicable

6.3 From construction or

demolition Yes

Heavy construction traffic for loading and unloading of

construction materials, fabrication and handling of

equipment’s and construction materials are likely to

cause an increase in the ambient noise levels. During

peak construction phase, marginal increase in noise

levels is expected to occur locally at construction site.

The peak noise levels from continuous construction

activity may be about 75 - 80dB (A). However, factors

like air absorption, vegetal cover etc., would result in

significant attenuation of at least 35 - 40dB (A) at 100 m

distance. The resultant noise levels on proposed project

site at 100m distance at peak level of construction is

anticipated to be about 40 - 45dB (A), which is well

within the limits for Residential area(55dB) during the

day time. Hence, the noise levels are considered to have

insignificant impact.

Further to minimize these potential impacts, major

construction activities would be scheduled during

Page 15: Form 1 for Prior Environmental Clearanceenvironmentclearance.nic.in/.../EC/...BrigadeMixedUseDevelopment.pdf · Railway Station); 12km Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway station

Form 1 Brigade Mixed Use Development

Brigade Enterprises Limited Page 15

normal daylight working hours and would be

implemented consistent with the applicable standards.

The construction contractor will use equipment’s that

are adapted to operate with appropriate noise muffing

devices resulting in the least possible noise. Every effort

would be taken to minimize the noise levels including

the mandatory use of construction equipment’s with

operable mufflers.

Overall, the impact of noise generated on the

environment is likely to be insignificant, reversible and

localized in nature and mainly confined to daytime and

construction period only.

6.4 From blasting or piling No Not Applicable

6.5 From construction or

operational traffic Yes

During Construction - Explained in 6.3

Operational Phase - From the project itself, there are

two Entry and Exit, one for the commercial building

which are 8.0 m wide each located on the Southern side

(18m wide Dasarahalli Main Road) and the other one for

the residential building which is 6m wide located on the

North-East side. The total width of the internal road

(uni-directional) is 8m wide for the commercial & 6m

wide for the residential development, as per Fire

regulations. The traffic circulates around the individual

buildings simultaneously providing ingress & egress to

the two levels of parking in the commercial block &

Ground floor in the residential block and respective Exit

Points from the buildings. Hence, traffic noise is not

expected to be a major concern. Also, speed breakers at

regular intervals shall be put up to ensure that vehicles

do not over-speed within the property. Sign boards

indicating “No Horn” and “Speed Limit” shall be put up

at regular intervals to guide the drivers for a safe drive.

The Entry and Exit will be manned by trained and
