APRIL – JUNE 2017

Amicale Quarter Report

CRECHE UPDATES

The children started attending regular classes as

their assessment for the year 2017 was held in

April. Parents were informed about the assessment

one month before so that they get the time to

prepare their wards for the exam. Question papers

were formed by

the teacher’s,

checked by the coordinator before sending it

for photocopy. All the children from Creche 3

– 6 were informed

to attend the

exam. Any child

who did not attend the exam without a valid cause

will not be entertained in the crèche from the

month of May. Parent’s understood the

importance of the studies as per the age of the

child because they were given the awareness in every month specifically to the

parent’s of academic weaker students.

All the students above the age of 3.5 years

appeared for the assessment and those who

could not showed a proper medical cause of the

child. Few children who got admission in English

medium schools left Jan Sava during this quarter.

FESTIVE COLOURS

Jan Sava celebrated Rabindra Jayanti – 157th Birth anniversary of Rabindranath

Tagore on 9th

May 2017.

Children

participated in

dance, songs,

recitation and

skits written by

the poet. It was really a pleasure to teach the

songs and choreography to

the children who showed lot

of interest in learning it.

Parent’s too were very keen

to know whether his/her

ward was participating or

not. The parent’s helped us

to gather the colourful costumes for the children to make the program a big

success.

Chariot festival/ Rath Yatra was celebrated with the

children. Kids were excited to pull the rope of the chariot.

Drawings and crafts were created by the children to gain

the knowledge about the whole festival and how it is

celebrated. Teachers drew the chariots on the blackboard

so that the children can draw it in their exercise copies,

get the idea how to draw a chariot and what is the

festival all about. Children

enjoyed themselves in

decorating the chariot and making other crafts.

Children coming from Muslim families celebrated Idd

in the crèche with the Teacher’s.

In each month parents from two crèches were called in the awareness meeting

and the shortcomings of the children were discussed with them. The dates and

the topics of discussions were given underneath:

Month Crèche No. Topics of discussions April 4,5,6 Awareness meetings on skin

related problems faced by children and the hygiene practice to be followed

May 5,6 Experience sharing on good touch and bad touch in the life of both parent’s and the child

June 1,2 Rules and regulations of Jan Sava for new admission and the existing ones

June 3,4 Child performance and parental guidance for looking after studies at home

Children who have got admissi on in the first

quarter of this year, received their crèche

uniforms, became more stable and started loving

this place. They have stopped crying and have

become accustomed to their teacher’s and

helper’s. They have become more or less regular

with their classes.

CRECHE FEEDING

This quarter has the hottest months of the year.

The children were getting sick due to high fever

as many kids who live in the slums do not have

fans in their homes. We advised the parent’s to

feed the children with lot of fluids of any form so

that they do not get dehydrated. Ladies finger,

pumpkins and mangoes were fed on each

working day along with their regular non vegetarian dishes. ORS water was a

must drink at 11.00am for every child present in the crèche in this quarter as

advised by Dr Mary Acharya for this hot scorching summer. Children were

advised not to drink any ice or icy drinks sold locally

in the slums

because the

untreated water

may cause

diarrhea to the

child. Vegetables

like bitter gourds,

round gourds

were also made occasionally to feed the children along with the staple food.

Children were not able to eat rice on very hot summer days but they always

loved the meat, fish and eggs which were served to them.

CRECHE CLINIC

Heat fever, skin rashes, swelling of throat, ear

infection, diarhea, vomiting was the common

diseases in the list. Most of the children did not

have electricity in their homes during the day time,

sometimes there were power cuts at night which

made the children very sick due to sweating. Lot of

children suffered from head louse and dry

dandruffs, who all were diagnosed by Dr Manas

Sen Dermatologist.

ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM

Batch 7 ended in this quarter by giving their exam

for English Grammar, General Knowledge and

viva. 15 students passed out in this batch. The

students were very happy who completed the

course because the younger ones wanted to apply

for jobs where spoken English is a requirement/

or for the jobs in the mall. This batch was a mixed batch of students from

school drop outs to becoming a widower in the middle age who all were doing

the course with different thoughts in their minds, how to utilise this knowledge

in their day to day life. Batch 6 got their certificates from the Board members

on the day of Rabindra Jayanti program. Students receiving their certificates

showed their gratitude towards the institute that they had such a lovely

opportunity to study English and gain the knowledge which would have been

costly elsewhere.

The exposure visit for this quarter was

done in Gu rusaday Museum which gave

them knowledge on paintings, clothing,

musical instruments, geography and

culture of India, since the British period.

A session on Gender policy was

conducted in the month of April with this

Batch. In this session they could relate

their experiences of negligence which they have received from their families in

their childhood, as because they were a girl child. The Gender policy session

became very interesting and interactive as each one could understand the

difference between the thoughts of those days and how the pattern of the

society has changed.

COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM

Batch 10 who started in April mostly after

giving their standard ten exam in school, sat

for their NIIT exam on 23rd June 2017. 16

students appeared from this Batch. The

course duration was fixed to three months

after discussing

it with NIIT

Foundation Delhi because all the students would

start their classes for standard el even or would

like to migrate in some other city. From the

beginning the students were very serious about

their course timings and tried to attend the class without fail. Batch 11 is

beginning their classes from 3rd July 2017.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Ladies were quite regular with their classes

before the summer vacation. After the

vacation the attendance was very poor in

the initial stage. Ladies who are quite good

in crafts or hand work joined the jewellery

making unit. The existing batch have

become quite good in stitching and making

good Indian dresses.
