Student AchievementsCongratulations to our Gold award winners, Aussies of the Month and our six Ministers who all thoroughly enjoyed their reward day last week at either Jamberoo Water Park or Tenpin Bowling. We cannot thank Bowerbird class enough who put in a massive team effort and collected all the rubbish around our school buildings in readiness for Presentation Day. Well done! Congratulations to all these students and keep up your fantastic efforts.Stamp Chart SuperstarsCongratulations to the following students who have filled their stamp chart or accumulated dojo points by demonstrating and following our classroom rules.Fairywren: Harmony, Michael, Jaxon, Jessica, Declan, Ryka, OscarKookaburra: Riley, Jonah, JoelCongratulations to all and keep up the fine efforts.

Fees for 2020School Contribution: We have not increased our voluntary contribution this year. It will remain at $40 for the first child per

year, $30 for second sibling and additional students no charge. This is a voluntary charge, however these funds provide

essential resources for students.

Photocopying Levy: We are not asking families to purchase text books again this year, however, we would greatly appreciate

parents’ support in paying $20.00 per child to assist in covering the cost of the additional photocopying that will be required.

This is still considerably cheaper than purchasing text books.

Software Levy: In 2020 parents are asked to pay a $20.00 levy per student towards the cost of accessing quality computer

software. Our school has purchased site licences to provide all students with access to excellent pieces of educational software

(Mathletics and Reading Eggs). Students can use these programs at school and at home. The programs not only provide

valuable practice of important literacy and numeracy skills, they make homework much more fun and meaningful as teachers

can tailor the work to the individual level of each student.

Equipment Levy: In 2020 all parents are asked to pay a $20.00 levy per student to cover the cost of specific resources used in

each classroom. In Kindergarten this will cover one large scrapbook, key tags for word lanyards, Home Reader Pouches, Faber

Castell whiteboard markers, a whiteboard eraser, Staedtler coloured and lead pencils and 2 Bluglu glue sticks.

In Years 1 and 2 the $20 will cover 1 large scrapbook for Maths and a writing book, 1 pack of whiteboard markers, a whiteboard

eraser, 1 Faber Castell PVC free rubber, 2 Bluglu glue sticks, Staedtler lead pencils and class coloured pencils.

In Years 3-6 the fee will cover plastic envelope pouches x 3, A4 lined books x 4, Maths Grid book x 1 whiteboard

dusters and whiteboard markers.

In addition to the items that school will be providing, students are requested to purchase the following items.

K–6: library bag, paint shirt, 2 boxes of tissues, 1 roll paper towel, 1 soap bottle cream wash (optional)

3-6: A set of head phones (as pictured – approx. $25), A pencil case (no bigger than 30cm x 15cm) to include

these items: 2 lead pencils- HB preferably, black felt tip pen(optional), scissors, 2 glue sticks, standard ruler, 1

soft white rubber, coloured pencils, sharpener, 2 x blue and red ballpoint pens (Not Year 3)

Thank you for your assistance. All fees can be paid off in instalments. EFTPOS is also available at the office for

your convenience. (POP) Parent Online Payments [our preferred option] can be made via the Appin School website page at

www.appin-p.schools.nsw.edu.au (click make a payment and follow the prompts - your child’s name and class and what you

IMPORTANT ROAD SAFETY REMINDER FOR PARENTS AND CARERS THESE HOLIDAYSAs the school holidays approach, it is important to remember when walking near roads, on footpaths, near

driveways and in car parks always:

• Hold your child’s hand. Children need to hold an adult's hand until they are at least 10. Children should be

closely supervised by an adult and hold hands when crossing the road.

• Talk to your child about road safety. Talk about how to be safe when near roads. Be a good role model.

• Point out road safety dangers and differences in new environments. This is especially important when on holidays

in different surroundings. Roads, footpaths and pedestrian facilities may look different in holiday areas.

The best way to keep your child safe on or near the road is to hold their hand. Talk with your child daily about

road safety. Remind other adults and carers about this too. You can find out more at Transport for NSW.

http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/children/pedestriansafety.html

Please remind your child to be careful and vigilant when they ride bikes or scooters around Appin during the holidays, especially when they are with friends and chatting as they ride. Please encourage them to cross the road at the traffic lights or safely near the many roundabouts.

Have a safe holiday break!

Please also clearly label your child’s clothing or things they bring to school and replace these names when they wear off. Please also ask at the front office for any valuable lost items such as watches, glasses, jewellery etc.
