A magazine is read from right to left

•The text columns, the block of pink and black text and all the pictures follow the convention of a music magazine. The rule of third show the artist on the right hand side. • The simplistic colours of white, pink and black and used to make certain parts to text standout and to make the text easy to read. • The page number and Billboard logo are on the bottom of the page and this re-enforced the logo as well as reminding the reader of the magazine as the logo is on both sides of the page.•The artists name is clearly introduced at the top of the page, therefore this shows her importance . The image immediately anchors the text .

• Headline written in Arial Narrow Bold, stands out and portrays the sophistication of the magazine•Image contains details about the singers location•Constant theme of pink give a feminine connotation •Instead of a drop cap the there is a big bold headline which introduces the article Cleary •The small captions anchor the images• Pull-quote: Placed in the bottom centre of the page and is wrapped in a tight arrangement with the text•Little space left out on the page, shows how much information the magazine contains•This magazine follows the conventions of a typical pop magazine. The Red arrow shows the format of how a reader would visualise the magazine when they open the double page spread. The most important thing ( the image) I located at the top right as it’s the first things that will catch the readers attention, followed by the writing as followed but the smaller images and more writing. •The colour scheme is set to a target audience of readers aged around 20-39 who are men and sometimes even men.

•Demographics is a common convention used in a double page spread. The image/ Mise-en-scene is supporting the age and gender of readers. •Colours will be used as a representative of the age, gender etc of the magazine target readers

•Colour Scheme: Target audience is evidently shown from the colour scheme:-Women & Young Adults -Aged 20-39

Double Page Spread Code & Conventions•Although the DPS doesn't have a drop cap it still follows the typical conventions of a music magazine. •The gutter: Allows a separation from one page to another.•Page number: clear at the bottom on the page with the logo on the magazine (Billboard) •Masthead/Title: The artists name: Rihanna is clearly introduced from the masthead at the top of the page•Pull quotes/pun: The pull quote in the double page spread is clearly bold, bigger than the rest of the text in the DPS. It stands out from its different colour and size but also it’s right in the left centre. As the reader we would automatically look at the quote as the quote blended with the ‘C’ shape throughout the DPS. •Heading which is short and simple makes is easy for the reader to remember the artist

•The varied camera angles/levels attracts the reader more. Shows the variety of different camera shots•The main shot is a medium close up. Therefore is shows her full length body on stage. This allows the reader to she her costume therefore it allows the reader to have some sort of interaction with the artists genre of music: POP•The double page spread is dominated by the image in the top right of the magazine, it cross over into both pages of the spread. The military tank which is striking painted a hot pink. The colour of the tank is the way to contrast against what tanks are used for - war and killing - while pink is a feminine and soft colour which portrays the Artist.
