Contents TitleThe contents title is written is a rocky, scruffy font. Also the font color is black and within a black circle; this is great as black and white compliment each other and catch the eyes of a reader.

Sub-lineThis is a simple bold and black text on a white background. This is effective as they are complimenting colors. Also the sub-line itself is a short summary of the story, this can be effective as alliteration can be used and make the reader want to skip to that very story, for example “Electric Wizard”.

Sub HeadingsThe subheading in this magazine are a yellow text with a black background, making the text easy to read. Also the text is tall and slim catching the eye of the reader causing them to read.

Editor PhotoThere is no editor photo in this particular magazine, but an editor’s photo is an easy way of grabbing the readers attention, as people like to take a glimpse of people who are writing to them.

EditorialThe editorial in this magazine contains a lot of informal language. This builds a ‘personal relationship’ (Katz) as it makes the reader feel as if the editor is coming across as a friend, for example “rocking our world right now!”. Also this editorial uses a lot of exciting language, for example ‘Enjoy!’. This makes the magazine seem as if it is filled with interesting content, which therefore makes the reader want to read on with the magazine. Lastly, at the very beginning the editorial conveys itself as very welcoming ‘HELLO, READERS.’ . This makes the first sight of the magazine welcoming and not intimidating.

Page numberThe page numbers are a bright standing out red, which is a non-verbal cade, which makes it easy for the reader to establish what page the story is on.

Main Image –The main image contains star appeal as it contains famous musicians. The man picture is not the main story, but will use my main picture for my main story in my main task.

Issue detailsThe issue number and cover date are both at the top of the contents page they are both on their own with nothing distracting the reader from the issue number and cover date.

ConclusionContents Page –• The first feature I would like to ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale) are the subheadings. I would

like to repeat this as I like the idea of the actual sub – heading box a different color to the actual background color making it stand out. Also I like the idea of a complimentary color for the text within the box itself.

• Secondly I would like to ‘repeat’ the feature of the editorial. I would like to repeat this as I believe it is another way of creating a personal bond with the reader, and also to create engagement. This will also be followed by a professional looking signature and editor contact details.

• Lastly the feature I would like to ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale) from the contents page are the sub-lines. I would like to repeat this as the sub-line gives a short idea of what the story is to the reader. I like the idea of sub-lines as if the reader reads the sub-line it may encourage them to reading more parts of the magazine.

Drop CapitalThe drop capital in this magazine is also in white text on a black background. As well as the complimentary colors a drop capital is what first catches a readers eye on a piece of writing and encourages them to carry on reading.

Page number & Brand nameNext to every page number on every page is the name of the magazine. This is to allow the reader to acknowledge the name of the brand as they always refer to where page number is to allow them to remember where in the magazine they are. Therefore they are always looking at the brank name and it will stick in their head for brand identity.

Stand FirstThe stand first is a short brief summary of the full interview about the specific artist. This is engaging for the reader it is usual bolder and stands out more than the actual interview or piece of writing. Therefore if the reader reads the stand first it may engage the reader and making he/she she read on with the full interview.

Pull QuoteA pull quote in this magazine is large, bold and written in capitals. Also what makes it appealing to the reader is that the specific artist said the quote and fans may be really interested in what they’ve said.

Image of the starThis is a picture of the star(s) usually in action or posing. This attracts readers as images will allow an image to be put in the head of the reader to reflect on what the interview could be about.. This is because text may not be as appealing to readers as pictures are.

ImagesImages in the DPS are full of color and have weird photo angles, this is to draw the reader in as unusual colors and angles are used which do not look normal; if it is not normal the reader will get drawn in.

ConclusionDouble Page Spread (DPS) –• One feature I would like to ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale) off the DPS is the stand first. I

would like to repeat this as readers enjoy short bold sentences that stand out because they are short. Also if they enjoy the stand first this will encourage them to read the full article.

• Secondly I would like to ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale) the feature of the drop capital. I would like to repeat this as this is a very effective technique of grabbing the readers vision with a page with a lot of writing on it; as the first letter is large the reader will see that and carry on reading the text.

• Lastly the feature I would like to ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale) from the DPS is the image of a star. I would like to repeat this because I feel that an image of the star will grab the readers attention. I believe it will as the image of the star is usually an admirable picture which will grab normal readers other than just fans of that star.
