DESCRIPTION

Marquette University, Emerging and Social Media (ADPR4300) In our second week we want to create the hub for all of the class assignments and information you will create throughout the semester. In class we will setup a Wordpress.com account for each student and complete the required assignments for setting up the blog, your user profile and an "About Me" page. Additionally we will begin to explore the importance of branding yourself. As you prepare to enter the workforce, how can you set yourself apart from the competition. We will use the class to explore some key tenets of personal branding and begin to consider how your digital footprint contributes, or detracts, from your brand. For more about the course please visit: http://www.jenders.com/adpr4300 Thank you, Dennis Jenders

WORDPRESS + BLOGGINGSTATE OF THE STATE

A blog provides an easily updated platform for branded

content. Wordpress powers nearly 70 million blogs worldwide.

Frequently updated content results in favorable links in the

major search engines and gives consumers a reason to return.

Developing branded or user-generated content within the blog

will drive increased traffic from organic search results.

Google favors sites built on speed and assigns authority based

on the author which will benefit your brand in SERPs.

WORDPRESS + BLOGGINGWHY A BLOG? WHY WORDPRESS?

ESTABLISHING A DESTINATION

Even with brands, we need to establish a destination for the content we create, post

across the web or tweet about.

+ A blog will give you a platform for the course...

+ but more so, it will give you the opportunity to create a hub for your personal

brand and the content you create.

WORDPRESS

+ A proven platform powering sites for Time, CNN, Ted, TechCrunch and more.

+ Powers nearly 20% of the Web... yes, all of it.

+ Easy to import and export your content, if you decide to move elsewhere.

+ Great community for support, customization and always improving.

+ Can easily be more than a blog,
