GOAL SETTING
Over 90% of studies show that goal setting has a consistent and powerful effect on behaviour and success.
It is important that the right kinds of goals are set to ensure focus and direction.
Goals help to organise training and competition and ensure targets are being met.

Process Goal - This focuses on technique and practice - what a performer has to do to be successful. Often this means breaking down skills and practicing them in parts e.g. Practice a sprinting technique
Performance Goals – This is the focus on how they are going to win allowing to judge and compare performance with others, and own performers e.g. Beating your PB.
Outcome Goals – This is related to the end result e.g. winning the competition, reaching elite level. Too much focus on this can lead to a decline in performance.
