3. Gibberellic Acid (GA)

4. Ethylene

5. Abscisic Acid (ABA)

• Cytokinin (CK)– “Youthful” shoot

hormone– Cell division and

differentiation – Produced in actively

growing tissues roots, embryos, and fruits

– Controls apical dominance and promotes above ground branching and growth.

– Promotes delayed senescence

• Auxin (AX)– The “rooting”

hormone– Cell division and

differentiation, stimulates cell elongation in young shoots

– Produced in apical meristem (growth tip of the shoot)

– Promotes lateral root growth and root branching.

Cytokinin and Auxin have an inverse relationship, depending upon ratio within the plant determines

the type of growth a plant will produce.
