What to Expect: Daily LifeClass Schedule

➢ The school day is 8:20 am to 3:30 pm.

➢ Students take 6 classes per day (8 periods in school

day) with 5 minutes in between classes.

➢ Anchor Time is a built-in extension and remediation

weekly.

➢ Lunch is 52 minutes during 4th or 6th period .

day in most classes.

rigorous, so it is IMPORTANTfor students to stay on top

➢ 4 credits of Science

➢ 3 credits of Social Studies

➢ 3 credits of World Language*, Fine Arts, or Career Technology

➢ 4 credits of Electives

➢ 0.5 credit of Health

➢ 0.5 credit of Personal Fitness

*Students planning to enter/transfer into a 4-year college must take a minimum of two

units of the same world language.

What to Expect:

Graduation Requirements

The EOC (End-Of-Course test) is comprised of the following subject

assessments:

➢ English – 11th Grade American Literature

➢ Science – Biology

➢ Mathematics – GSE Algebra I and Accel Alg

➢ Social Studies – U.S. History

These tests serve as the final exam for the above courses and they also serve as

0.01% of students’ final semester grades.

➢ EOC tests are associated with the course the student is taking

➢ Test scores cannot be “banked” (i.e., if a student retakes a course, they must

retake the associated EOC)

International Baccalaureate

As an authorized International Baccalaureate World School, Alpharetta High School joins the 3000 other high schools world-wide who share a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that we believe is important for our students.

Eligible students may apply during sophomore year to pursue the Diploma Programme during their junior and senior years.

Interested rising freshmen are encouraged to complete the Statement of Interest so that the IB Coordinator, Mr. Fortunato, can begin to work with them during freshman year in preparation.

Students are encouraged to pursue pathway completion, which entails

taking a sequence of courses in the same industry cluster. Either during

or upon completion of a pathway, students are eligible to take an

assessment leading to an industry recognized credential or certification

(e.g., Emergency Medical Responder, Microsoft Office Specialist, OSHA

& CPR/First Aid Certification). In addition, their participation in CTSOs

and work-based learning enables them to leave high school with

tangible and marketable skills that document their capabilities of a

greater understanding in their chosen industry of study.

What to Expect: Athletic Eligibility

All students entering the 9th grade in the fall of 2021 are

immediately eligible for the fall semester.

To participate in any sport, the student must pass 5 out of 6courses the preceding semester – summer school is considered

an extension of spring semester.

All athletes must be on track to graduate at the beginning of

each school year.

Remember: STUDENT comes first in STUDENT-ATHLETE.
