Swedavia – a sustainable airport group
Swedavia is a state owned company that owns, operates and develops Sweden’s national basic infrastructure of airports – a network of ten airports from Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north which connects all of Sweden with the rest of the world.
We help to create the access that Sweden needs to facilitate travel, business and meetings in Sweden, elsewhere in Europe and around the world, based on the vision "Together we bring the world closer". Custo-mer focus, sustainable development and security are the foundations of everything Swedavia does, both in the own operation and in the society at large. At the same time, the company shall continually reduce its carbon footprint and help reduce the environmental impact of the entire air travel industry. All of Swedavia’s airports are environmentally certified at the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program-me. It is this long-term work that has made Swedavia a world leader in developing airports with the least possible environmental impact.

Sweden and the Kiruna region
Sweden is one of the most competitive and productive economies in the world, leading within innovation and with refined consumers and an open mindset to international business and ownership. Sweden is the home of multiple world-leading companies across various sectors and believes in making business easy which results in attractive investment and market opportunities.
Norrbotten, Sweden’s northernmost county, is where Kiruna is located. It borders both Norway in the northwest and Finland in Northeast, all three intertwined at the Three-Country Cairn. The county is expanding and growing, both by population and economically, especially Kiruna. Mostly due to its underground mine, world’s largest, Kiruna has become an attractive place for business. So much that it in fact is the busiest civil society in Sweden per capita.
The mining is the heart and blood of the region and the single most im-portant employer. Since the town is practically depending on the mining they now have to move the whole town center, due to its spreading working area right underneath it.
Besides the mining the region is probably most known for the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi. The world’s largest hotel built entirely out of ice and snow, rebuilt in every winter. It is open from mid-December to the end of April. The Kiruna region is therefore a popular destination with almost 600 000 overnight stays that were accounted for in 2017.

The airport
Swedavia work to constantly develop and improve the ten airports to manage the increasing demand on effective national and international travels.
Kiruna Airport is the northernmost airport in Sweden and has been in operation since 1960. It has a central role in the region and for Kiruna City due to the geographical location far north of the polar circle. The airport is a hub of the infrastructure that the city and region need to develop and maintain a good society. In recent years, the airport has become increasingly important given the increase in business develop-ment, tourism and research facilities in the area.
The airport’s location in northern Sweden means that there is ample free airspace around the airport, which is greatly appreciated by both com-panies and researchers that come to Kiruna to conduct research and test products in the extreme climate there. Mining operations, space research, magnificent nature, the northern lights and the icehotel also attract people from all around the world.
During the last five years the number of travelers via Kiruna Airport has increased with 25 percent and among the airlines that traffic the airport is SAS and Norwegian.

The Airport Advertising digital signage consists of more than 300 faces distributed at the ten Swedavia airports, strategically placed for optimi-zed impact among the travelers and broken down into two networks. The portrait serie is placed in the largest passenger flows were high reach is enabled and through the landscape gate serie messages can be further amplified in areas where the travelers reside for longer periods of time.
