ria del Valle. Hace mucho tiempo

hablamos de cómo nos referiremos a

los dos edificios una vez que la igle-

sia grande esté construida.

Pedí sugerencias y la de Santa Maria de la Lo-

ma es el nombre oficial de nuestra parroquia

así que le llamaremos a una Santa Maria de la

Loma y a la otra Santa Maria del Valle. “En

cuál iglesia será el funeral..en la del Valle o en

la de la Loma?’

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

REGISTRATION for the

2018-2019 school year will be

held on the following dates and

times in the Parish Center:

Saturday June 2 - 9:00

a.m. - 12 p.m.

June 5, 6 and 7

9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 to

8:00 p.m.

SPACE IS LIMITED!

In order to register your child(ren) for religious education, your family must be registered in the parish and your balance from previous years paid in full before these registration dates. We will take no registrations during the above dates if you have a balance due the church or you are not registered.

The cost of religious education for the 2018-

2019 school year during this registration is a

$45.00 book and materials fee per student and

a $150.00 family tuition fee. If you have a child

in a Confirmation or Eucharist class there is an

additional $25.00 sacrament fee. Due at time of

registration is your child’s book fee and $50.00

of the family tuition. After this registration the

family tuition rate will increase by $25.00

($175.00). Any balance not paid in full by Au-

gust 1, 2018 will incur a $25.00 late fee. If you

are paying by cash, please bring small bills! We

do not accept credit cards. If you have any

questions regarding registration, please contact

the parish office at 630-231-0013.

NOTA DE MAYORDOMIA

Las escrituras dicen, “no sigan la corriente del mun-

do en que vivimos” (Romanos 12:2). El patrón de

este mundo es adquirir y mantener lo material. Ro-

manos 12:2 continua, “sino mas bien transfórmense

a partir de una renovación interior.” Esta transfor-

mación la trae el que cree, a través de su relación

con el Espíritu Santo, quien, por Palabra y Sacra-

mento, renueva nuestra mente, para que, en vez de

seguir el patrón del mundo, busquemos seguir a

nuestro Salvador. Como Jesús, quien se dio por

completo, igualándose con Dios (Filipenses 2:6), sa-

quemos de nosotros ese deseo por adquirir y ateso-

rar. Esta forma de vida nos lleva solo a la miseria,

no a la completa satisfacción. Como Jesús, seamos

desprendidos con libertad, aun con sacrificio.

Stewardship Note

Scripture says, “Do not conform any longer to the

pattern of this world” (Romans 12:2). The pattern

of this world is to acquire and to hold on to mate-

rial acquisitions. Romans 12:2 continues, “but be

transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This

transformation is brought about in you, the be-

liever, through your relationship with the Holy

Spirit, who, through Word and Sacrament, re-

news your mind so that, instead of following the

pattern of the world, you seek to follow your Sav-

ior. Like Jesus who emptied himself of equality

with God (Phil. 2:6), let us empty ourselves of the

desire to acquire and hoard. This way of life leads

only to misery, not self fulfillment. Like Jesus, let

us give freely, even sacrificially.

Thanks to everyone who supported Shining Light's

fundraising efforts to create an awareness of human

trafficking in the community. Sister Jean Okroi, chair-

person of the Illinois Women Religious against Human

Trafficking, and our guest speaker, opened our eyes to

this largest human rights violation in the history of hu-

mankind. We will be bringing her out again with the

FBI on September 21. Look for details later in the

summer.

Infant Baptisms: Congratulations! We look forward to welcoming your child into the life of the Church. It is required for parents to attend two preparation classes before having their child baptized. Please call the Parish Center to register for classes prior to the birth of your child. When choosing godparents, please keep in mind that godparents are required to be practicing Catholics who have received the sacraments of Baptism, the Eucharist, and Confirmation and are at least 16 years of age.

WEDDINGS: Arrangements are to be made six months in advance with one of the priests.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION): Saturdays, 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. in the Church, or anytime by appointment.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Call the Parish Center immediately in case of emergency, or to schedule a visitation for the homebound or for the hospitalized.
