22nd January 2021 A Message from Mr Imrie Dear Parents & Carers, It was an absolute delight to see so many children at the Millbrook whole school assembly on Monday. It was the busiest one I have attended! I understand a few children had trouble gaining access. The link this week will be set up slightly differently so (fingers crossed) there won’t be any issues for the next assembly, taking place on Monday at 9.30am. We asked the children for ideas and it has been decided that this ‘crazy Monday’ will be ‘come wearing as many colours of the rainbow as possible’! This could be red socks, green bracelet, orange shoes etcThis week, you will have received an invitation to take part in the ‘Millbrook Art & Photography Exhibition’ . This is an excellent chance for your child so show off some marvellous Millbrook masterpieces. Please see further information overleaf and send all entries to [email protected] . If you find the time, please complete the Remote Learning survey emailed to you this week. We are very impressed with everyone’s engagement with Remote Learning and we would love to hear your views and ideas for further improvement. I have created a ‘Covid-19’ page on your school website. Here you will find any letters to parents, going forward, and updated risk assessments/ temporary updates to policies. This is viewable under the ‘Parents’ tab. Finally, we have been very busy making the final arrangements for the weekly testing of staff using LFD tests which should begin next week. This will help to keep our staff and children even safer. Good luck finding the remaining ‘Books from the Brook’! Have a wonderful weekend, Jake Imrie ([email protected]) EYFS/1 Spring Yr 1/2 Summer Yr 3/4 Autumn Yr5/6 Winter Learners of the Week Rudi Faye Josephine Zak

A Message from Mr Imrie

Dear Parents & Carers, It was an absolute delight to see so many children at the Millbrook whole school assembly on Monday. This could be red socks, green bracelet, orange shoes etc…

This week, you will have received an invitation to take part in the ‘Millbrook Art & Photography Exhibition’. This is an excellent chance for your child so show off some marvellous Millbrook masterpieces. Please see further information overleaf and send all entries to [email protected].

If you find the time, please complete the Remote Learning survey emailed to you this week. We are very impressed with everyone’s engagement with Remote Learning and we would love to hear your views and ideas for further improvement.

I have created a ‘Covid-19’ page on your school website. Here you will find any letters to parents, going forward, and

updated risk assessments/ temporary updates to policies. This is viewable under the ‘Parents’ tab. Finally, we have

been very busy making the final arrangements for the weekly testing of staff using LFD tests which should begin next

week. This will help to keep our staff and children even safer. Good luck finding the remaining ‘Books from the Brook’!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jake Imrie ([email protected])

22nd January 2021

Dear Parents & Carers, I am writing to invite you to the ‘Virtual’ Millbrook Art & Photography Showcase which will be emailed and shared with Parents next Friday (29th January 2021). Children are invited to create a piece of artwork to be showcased and send a photograph of it to the following email address:

[email protected]   To allow children to be as creative as they wish, we are not setting any themes, rules or criteria. We want children to use their imagination and initiative to create their very own masterpiece. Any media is permitted and ideas may include:

Sculpture / Textiles / Modelling / Photography / Watercolours / Sketching / Drawing / Ceramics / Portraits / Landscapes /

Digital Media ... and much more… We are very much looking forward to sharing and celebrating the wide range of artistic skills the children of Millbrook have to offer.

22nd January 2021  Research shows that Artistic skills foster intellectual development and stimulates both sides of the brain. It increases the capacity of memory, attention and concentration and introduces children to new vocabulary and concepts. Displaying and celebrating children’s art work boosts confidence and self-esteem and allows children to celebrate and feel proud of their creativity. We look forward to sharing all of the Millbrook masterpieces with you on Friday 29th January 2021. Best wishes, Jake Imrie
