On behalf of hundreds of colleagues in Enrollment Services, I am pleased to present the 2017 Enrollment Report. The report summarizes enrollment levels on our Columbus and regional campuses; highlights key data about our undergraduate, graduate and professional students; and provides comparisons that capture nearly a decade’s worth of statistics on a variety of meaningful measures. Once again, the numbers tell a great university success story.

Among the highlights: Our 2017 Columbus campus freshman class is the best-prepared and most diverse

2017 Enrollment Reportfreshman class in university history, with a record-high average ACT composite score of 29.2. A record 65 percent were in the top 10 percent of their high school classes, and new first-year student minority representation increased to a record 1,542 students—21.6 percent of the class.

Overall, the university enrolled a record 66,444 students, including a record high 59,837 at the Columbus campus. Undergraduate enrollment on all campuses also achieved record highs.

Enrolling well-prepared students, focusing on their transition through campus-wide first-year programming, and providing them with a tremendous academic experience has allowed us to maintain a first-year retention rate of 94.2 percent and a record-high four-year graduation rate of 62.4 percent.

While these numbers tell an impressive story, behind the numbers are students ready to create their unique Ohio State stories. And behind the students are the dedicated faculty and staff members who work hard to attract, retain, support and inspire them.

Thank you for all you do to make Ohio State better every day.
